Story
UMA DID NOT DESERVE TO BE DUMPED!! Meet Uma Furman (AKA Uma Thurman), a tiny 4 year old and 10 lb Yorkie Maltese mix with a sweet soul and a touch of Hollywood sparkle! Sadly, she was found abandoned in Compton alongside her puppy and another dog believed to be her sister, with no collar, tag, or microchip. A good Samaritan took them in, hoping to find their owner. After posting about them online and no one came forward, it became clear they had been dumped. Shelter Hope heard her story and took in the entire little family. (We are happy to report her puppy has since been adopted!) We got Uma fixed, vaccinated and microchipped right away. At the clinic they discovered she has a heart murmur, but she takes it like a champ! When Uma first came in she was understandably very shy and shut down, but in the past few weeks we’ve seen such a wonderful transformation in her! Uma is now a bubbly, outgoing, and active little girl who absolutely loves attention. She’s truly the definition of sweet. She's happy, snuggly, and quietly affectionate. She also enjoys relaxing in her cozy dog bed and gets along beautifully with other dogs. Uma Furman is ready for the spotlight! She can't wait to become the star of her very own forever home! More from her foster: - Will sometimes play with her squeakies or sometimes just want to sit on the couch next to us and chill - Loves soft squeaky toys, likes being covered with blanket and sleep between us in bed - Very trainable, would benefit from obedience class -------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
Meet Cherry Pie, a deliciously sweet little Yorkie, ready for her forever home. Cherry Pie is 3 years old and 6.7 pounds. She was found alone and cold on the streets of Taft, wandering a housing neighborhood for at least a week. No one in the area recognized her, and despite efforts to locate an owner, it became clear that Cherry Pie had been left to fend for herself. Thankfully, a kind and dedicated woman who helps rescue these little fluffies took her in and made sure she was safe. Since then, Cherry Pie has shown everyone exactly who she is: a sweet, calm, and loving little girl. All she truly wants is to be close to her person. Whether she’s curled up on your lap or resting quietly beside you, Cherry Pie is happiest when she’s near someone she loves. She is great with kids and other dogs, incredibly gentle, and has a laid-back, easygoing nature. Cherry Pie isn’t demanding or high-energy. She’s a cuddler, a comfort buddy, and a loyal companion who just wants to feel safe and cherished. She also has a little cherry eye that hasn’t slowed her down one bit. If you’re looking for a chill, affectionate, and endlessly loving lap dog, Cherry Pie is ready to be your forever slice of happiness! ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire!
