Story
Max is a 5-year-old Yorkie&Poodle mix who has lived most of his life very close to his people. He grew up in a home where he was deeply loved, carried often, and rarely left alone. Because of that, Max learned that safety came from closeness and when that closeness disappears, his world feels uncertain. Like many dogs shaped during the covid years, Max didnt much exposure to new people, new homes, or being by himself. Instead, he formed strong attachments and learned to protect the spaces and people that made him feel safe. When he uncomfortable, Max doesnt act out to be bad he growls, cries, or barks because that how he communicates fear and anxiety. In new environments, Max is alert and cautious. He listens more with his body than with words. Loud voices, hovering, fast movements, or too much attention too soon can overwhelm him. But when things are quiet when people sit calmly, avoid direct eye contact, and let him sniff and observe something changes. (temporary foster placement)
