Story
Shadow is two years old. He is a very playful but very stubborn male yorkie poo. Shadow does not bark at all. He is very lovable and just all around fun and a joy to have around. I’m looking for someone who is comfortable with dogs. Someone who is very patient because he will test you like a two year old. Shadow was very spoiled. And he is broken to wear clothes.

These pups are in Kennesaw, Georgia too!

Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 14 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home.  I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in one temp. foster home, but another temp. foster said I barked at dogs that entered the same room as me as well as those I passed on my walks, so I do not want to live with them. / My former family reported that I did not like cats and Mostly Mutts agrees. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and once bit my former foster mom, though I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it. My former owner did not report any bites.  My foster said I like new people to go slow as I get to know them so, please be patient with me as I adjust to my new home and any new people I meet.  It just took a few days for me to feel comfortable with a temp. foster when my regular foster was away.  She even called me a ‘real love bug.’  I think I would do best in a home with a small circle of regular people and not too many people coming and going.  Once I am settled, I am sure to show you how sweet I can be!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer at the shelter is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I also knew the word ‘no’ and ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts.  My foster says I go in and out of my open crate to rest or clean myself, but get a bit stressed if I have to be crated during the day.  Usually I am allowed to have free reign of my foster home when she goes to work and I do great with that.  I sleep in bed with my foster and really like that.  There was one report of biting a former foster while asleep / just waking up, just so you know.  I can sleep in my crate if that is better for you.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and in my foster home.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks and playing fetch.  It was fun playing in the fall leaves too. I enjoy having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed as well as cuddles and scratches on my back.  Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I love treats just as much as toys and playtime.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my paws, tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men or people going too fast as I get to know them.  I don’t like dogs coming too close and alert bark at animals I see outside.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training, and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I was diagnosed with Cushing’s and take a medication called Vetoryl to manage it.  I am taking a fish oil supplement and Benadryl daily to help alleviate some bouts with dry, itchy skin.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life with a dog experienced person! My adoption fee is $299.00 & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 17, 2025, 7:05 am

Story
A ‘SPECIAL NEEDS’ HAPPY PUP:  Approx. 10 – 11 months old / Approx. 16 lbs. & growing  Hi, my name is Melanie!  I’m a special girl with a big heart — one that’s working harder than most. I was born with a significant heart condition that is expected to shorten my time here to around 3 to 4 years, but I’m determined to fill every single day with love, cuddles, and joy as I believe in living life to the fullest.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I get along very well with the dogs in my foster home. I would likely enjoy another dog to play with in my new home, so if you have a nice doggie who would like a puppy friend, but that would also not overwhelm me, let’s meet! / I met 2 kitties when I was very young, and my regular foster thinks I may be a bit too playful for kitties. / I like the teen kids I’ve met in my foster home and think older kids like this will be best for me due to my heart condition.  I didn’t care for some younger kids I met in my foster home, so if you have calm older kids, let’s meet!   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a happy-go-lucky pup with a sweet, lovable personality and a playful spirit that shines brightest when I’m around people. I’m not a big cuddler, and at times I’m a loner, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love being near you — I just like to enjoy your company in my own way. I’ve got some puppy energy, but because of my heart condition, I’d like a calmer home where I can play and explore without too much overexcitement.  My foster says I have a great personality and an easygoing charm, and I think once you meet me, you’ll see what a special little pup I am. / My energy level in my foster home is quite high at 6-8, though it will likely lower as time goes on. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a pretty bright girl and already know the ‘sit’, ‘outside’ and ‘lie down’ commands.  I bet you can teach me even more! / My crate manners are excellent in my foster home. / Potty training is coming along, but due to the medications I’m on, it’s a bit of a challenge for me.  I know when I’ve had an accident, but I just can’t always hold it — especially first thing in the morning, when I might need a quick carry outside to avoid leaving a trail.  So, know that there will be accidents and let’s work together to make them as few as possible.  Because of my frequent need to go out to potty, a stay-at-home or work-from-home family member is needed.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  It’s hard to pick just one favorite, because as a happy-go-lucky pup, I love so many things — people, toys to play with and chew on, and soaking up a little sunshine outside with my family!  I’m sure we’ll discover even more things we’ll love doing together! / My foster says I get startled by things that are new to me.  Kibble in a metal bowl is suspect to me, and I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, light exercise and training. • MEDICAL:  I’m current on my annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m on a heart medication called Vetmedin and I’ll need to stay on it for life.  My foster does some heart/stomach measurements that are an indicator as to how I’m doing, and these should be done in my new home – just ask about this.  I’ll need heart checks at UGA periodically and Mostly Mutts will pay for the one in December 2025 or January 2026.  I’m looking for a home with a cardiac knowledgeable family that understands my medical needs.  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    October 30, 2025, 4:23 pm

Story
A SWEET & LOVELY GAL:  Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 20 lbs. & needs to lose some weight Hi there, I’m Suri!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and now I’m getting a second chance at a happy life. I needed bloodwork and a good dental cleaning when I arrived and I've had those now, thanks to a generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization!  I’m currently in a great foster home while I wait to find my happily ever after!  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I wasn’t interested in them, though I did not show any aggression, so if you have a dog that isn’t looking for a playmate, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I met a nice boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and did well with them, so a home with kids ages 10 and up could be a good fit for me.  Let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m described as a gentle, adorable and fluffy sweetheart who’s just had a fresh haircut. I’m a pretty easy pup — friendly and sweet, which makes hanging out with me a breeze. I can be a little shy at first, but once I warm up, you’ll see just how sweet and loving I am.  Despite my age and weight, I currently have no issues going up and down stairs, enjoy a few shorter walks throughout the day, and the occasional chasing of a small frog in my foster’s yard.  During our walks, I sometimes do a little “reverse allergy sneeze,” which sounds like a funny snort — it’s harmless and passes quickly.  / Energy level: 3-5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’ command and I bet you can teach me even more.  / I’m doing well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and am doing well in my foster home at night as well as when my foster is away (a little treat to get me in there is always appreciated). / I only had a few accidents on the shelter schedule and am doing well in my foster home, so hopefully that will translate to doing well in my new home, too – of course there may be an adjustment period, and I do like to drink a lot of water. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I enjoy spending time with the nice volunteers and make a great front desk assistant / greeter to the friendly people coming to visit the shelter.  I just really enjoy people and being petted.  In my foster home, I am pretty chill and don’t care to play much – I just want to hang with the people.  I do enjoy a peanut butter Kong and other healthy weight-loss friendly treats (which I frequently beg my foster for).  Naps are great and I look forward to my average 8-9 hours of sleep each night, from around 10pm to 7am.  I cuddle with my foster on the couch, but need some help getting up there.  I’m sure we’ll discover lots of other things we will like doing together. / I don’t seem to love being outside – just take me to the bathroom and I’m ready to come back inside. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  I came in with some fur loss and not sure if I’ll grow that fur back, but I don’t mind and I hope you won’t either.  I had 1 tooth pulled during my dental cleaning and my mouth is feeling fresh again.  I’ve been diagnosed with Cushing’s disease and I’m on a medication called Vetoryl that I’ll need to stay on for life.  I also had 2 small cysts removed from my belly.  I also take an over-the-counter joint supplement called Cosequin which is good for all older doggies.  I’m trying some allergy medication, so just ask about that.   I’m so thankful that I was rescued and that I’ve gotten the much-needed vet care and love from all the nice folks at Mostly Mutts, and now I can’t wait to find my new family that will continue that love and good care.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  August 28, 2025, 11:48 am
