Story
Meet Marmalade, a two year old Chihuahua mix.Marmalade is a talkative girl who isn’t afraid to tell you what’s what. She was pretty shy when she came in and is still a little slow to warm up to strangers but once she knows you have a warm lap… She will be in it and your best friend. Even if it takes her a moment to warm up, she bonds quickly and will make an excellent friend for someone who wants a loyal companion. Marmalade weighs in at around ten pound and because she is so shy at first we feel she would do best in a home with no young kids. Marmalade deserves only the best and hopes to go to her forever home soon! This pet is available for adoption on 11/6/2024 at 8:56 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Before you go searching for free puppies or puppies for sale, check your local Shelters for available dogs and puppies that have been vetted and are ready to go home. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Waldo, a nine year old Chihuahua mix. Waldo is a friendly guy who enjoys going for car rides and walks. He weighs in at around ten pounds love his booty rubs! Waldo was found running around and sadly no one has come looking for him. His finder had him a day but decided to bring him to us because he didn’t like their other dog and got protective over his spot on their lap, this is not uncommon with small dogs and can be corrected with some training and reminders. Since being with us Waldo has walked passed our outside cats without issue and may be fine in a home with feline companions. Waldo does have some old man teeth and would benefit from a dental and possible future dentals as he continues to age. He is a joy to be around and just a lot of fun, we can’t wait for him to find his home. This pet is available for adoption on 11/9/2024 at 11:05 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Gravy, a four month old Chihuahua mix. Gravy was surrendered to us as part of our My Last Litter Program where we take unplanned litters and find them good homes while also spaying the momma so she no longer contributes to the pet over population problem. Before coming to us Gravy lived outside with other dogs, but we are sure she will appreciate being indoors. The whole litter has been around kids 7-8 years old and do well with them. Gravy is very sweet and wants to snuggles. Please remember that Gravy is a puppy and puppy behavior comes with the package. They need basic training and potty training along with being provided chew toys to encourage proper chewing habits. All puppies require socializing from a young age to help them become the best, most well-rounded dog they can be.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?That`s where you and the pet make sure you`re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption.
