Story
Meet Luna (aka Pound Cake, aka Loony Toons, aka Big Tuna), an approximately 9 year old chihuahua mix. Luna was surrendered in Charlotte by her owners due to a move. She struggled a lot in the shelter environment, defensive and too scared to let staff touch her. She was sprung from the shelter by a volunteer and within hours, she relaxed into her cuddly, attention-loving self. After some R&R in foster care, Luna is now ready to find her forever home! Luna is confident, affectionate, reliable, and an excellent companion. This gal has all the basics down - house trained, crate trained, good in the car, and great on a leash. Luna loves nothing more than a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood (she's been known to keep on trucking for up to 3 miles at a time if you let her) followed by a nap on the couch. Luna would do well as your one-and-only or as part of a pack. She's done well meeting other dogs (especially her size or smaller) and mostly carries on with her business - she's an independent lady! She tends to ignore the cats she's met. Although she hasn't met kids yet, Luna would probably prefer older, gentle kids who understand her age, boundaries, and need for a bit of extra care. Luna is a bit overweight at 18 pounds and will need help from her new family to get back to a healthy weight to ensure her golden years are her best yet. We're having her cloudy eye evaluated by a vet, but it doesn't seem to affect her vision. She can also be a bit standoffish with new people and fearful of being picked up, and would appreciate adopters who understand that time is needed to earn her trust. If you're ready for a short-n-sweet nugget of a buddy, Miss Luna is the lady for you! Apply to meet her today.

Story
Are you looking for a little lap dog?! If so, you need to meet Coraline, affectionately known as Cora! At a whopping 6 pounds of tan sweetness, Coraline is a 12-year-old chihuahua who has mastered the art of living her best life. A certified professional snuggler, Cora's ideal day involves being held like the royalty she is, carried around in a stylish baby sling (bonus points if it matches your outfit), or cuddling in the warmest lap available. Cora has some mild issues with her heart that she takes medication for. She saw a cardiac vet specialist who thinks she is at low risk for worsening of her condition if she continues taking her medication - yay! This pint-sized pup has impeccable leash manners and adores her daily walks, proving that even the smallest legs can cover a lot of ground. While Cora loves her foster dog sibling and gets along beautifully with any dog she meets, she's not shy to let you know if someone tries to step on her tiny toes - a chihuaha's signature sass! Cora thrives in a cozy environment where she can bask in attention and affection. She's the perfect mix of low-maintenance and lovable, and she's ready to find her forever throne-err, home. Could that be with you?
