Story
Meet Miso — a 6&#226&#128&#145month&#226&#128&#145old, 7 lb Chihuahua mix with a whole lot of sweetness packed into her tiny frame.   Quick Facts: Name: Miso Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 6 months old Weight: 7 lbs. House-Trained: Almost there! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Yes, but can be a little mouthy when she plays, so older kids are best Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: No   About Miso’s Breed: Our best guess is that Miso is a Chihuahua mixed breed Chihuahuas are known for their big personalities in tiny bodies, often forming strong bonds with their favorite people. They’re alert, expressive, and full of charm, with a playful streak that makes them endlessly entertaining. Despite their small size, they’re confident little companions who love being involved in whatever their humans are doing.   An ideal home for a Chihuahua is one that offers gentle handling, companionship, and a sense of security. They thrive with families who understand their delicate size and can provide a calm environment, cozy spots to snuggle, and positive guidance. Because they bond closely with their people, they do best in homes where they’re not left alone for long periods and where their affectionate, spirited nature can shine.   What to Love about Miso: This little girl is the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and cuddly lap&#226&#128&#145dog charm! When she’s not bouncing around with her toys or exploring the world on her walks, she’s happiest curled up in your lap, soaking in all the love she can get!   Miso is mostly potty trained but still has the occasional puppy accident as she continues learning. She’s already crate trained and will need to be crated when left alone since she’s still young and curious enough to get into things. She can be a bit of a “little guardian” with her toys and food, but she’s learning quickly and responds well to gentle guidance. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, does great with cats, and enjoys meeting people! Because of her puppy mouthiness, she’d do best with school&#226&#128&#145aged kids who understand how to respect her boundaries.   She walks nicely on a leash, rides well in the car, and is picking up basic commands. With her medium energy level, she’s just as happy playing as she is relaxing. Miso is an easygoing, loving puppy who’s ready to bring joy, fun, and lots of snuggles to her forever family!   Miso’s Highlights: 6&#226&#128&#145month&#226&#128&#145old, 7 lb Chihuahua mix with an adorable mix of puppy energy and lap&#226&#128&#145dog sweetness Mostly potty trained and already crate trained Great with dogs, cats, and people; best with school&#226&#128&#145aged kids due to puppy mouthiness Walks well on a leash and enjoys exploring the world Loves toys, playtime, and then curling up in your lap afterward Rides well in the car and is learning basic commands Can be a little guardian of her toys and food but improving with guidance Easygoing, loving, and ready to bring fun and affection to her forever home   If you’re looking for a tiny companion with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Miso is your girl.   Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Meet Boomer — a 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 16 lb Chihuahua mix with a tender heart, a silly streak, and a deep love for canine companionship.   Quick Facts: Name: Boomer Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 16 lbs. House-Trained: Not yet Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes (must have a companion dog in his forever home) Good with Cats: Likely ok Good with Kids: Preferably no – may do fine with older, calm children Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: Yes   About Boomer’s Breed: Our best guess is that Boomer is a Chihuahua mixed breed. Chihuahuas are bold, confident and loyal. They are affectionate with their people but can be wary of strangers but warm up quickly. They are intelligent and trainable, though they may be a little stubborn at times, but they keep it interesting! They are also known to be vocal and love to “chit chat”!   All About Boomer: Boomer is still working on his potty and crate training, but he does well when left uncrated with pee pads. Because of his rough and unknown past, he needs a little time to warm up and can be nervous around new people. He responds especially well to calm, gentle female energy and would do best in a kid&#226&#128&#145free home, as sudden movements can overwhelm him. Boomer would really love a home where someone would be with him, for most of the day, or not be gone for more than 5-6 hours per day.   What truly helps Boomer shine is the presence of another dog. He gains confidence from canine friends, loves playing with them, and even shares his toys beautifully. He hasn’t met cats yet, but given how well he does with dogs of all sizes, he would likely do fine with feline friends too.   Boomer has a medium energy level—he enjoys playtime and long walks but isn’t overly energetic. Once he trusts the person holding the leash, he walks nicely and has an easygoing, submissive play style. He would thrive with an experienced, patient owner, ideally someone familiar with small dogs or hoarder&#226&#128&#145rescue backgrounds who can offer gentle structure and consistent training. Once Boomer feels safe, his personality blossoms! He becomes a silly, sweet little guy who loves carrying his lamb chop toy around, sneaking socks when no one’s looking, and soaking up chest and chin scratches. His zoomies before walks or after baths are absolutely adorable and show just how joyful he can be.   Boomer’s Highlights: 1 year old, 16 lbs, Chihuahua mix Needs a dog companion for confidence and comfort Best in a kid&#226&#128&#145free, calm home Medium energy, loves walks and playtime Nervous at first but becomes sweet, silly, and affectionate Good with dogs, likely good with cats Needs a patient, experienced owner Loves toys, snuggles, and showing off his zoomies   Boomer is a gentle soul who just needs the right person and the right dog friend to help him feel safe. Once he trusts you, he becomes the sweetest, funniest little companion—full of love, quirks, and charm.       Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.         Bear – Sweet, Sleepy, and Searching for a Forever Home to Heal His Heart Bear is the kind of dog who makes you slow down, smile, and appreciate the quiet moments. This senior gentleman is soft, gentle, and incredibly affectionate — a dog who has weathered loss but still leans into love with his whole heart. He spends much of his time curled up in his small playpen, dozing on soft blankets, happy to watch the world from the safety of his cozy space. He uses wee-wee pads in his pen and will bark when he needs to go outside. Bear’s world was turned upside down when his devoted owner passed away. It’s obvious he was treasured — he loves being touched, being spoken to softly, and soaking up every bit of attention he can get. What he wants now is a calm, patient human who will help him feel safe again. He’s learning how to walk on a leash with a harness, but it’s still new and a little scary, so a fenced yard would help him feel calmer and more secure. Bear gets along with small female dogs but can be standoffish with males. He hasn’t been around kids or cats, but his gentle nature suggests he’d prefer a peaceful home with routines and reassurance. Bear is mostly quiet, giving a small bark only when he needs something important. He’s low-energy, happy to nap, stroll around a yard, and curl up at your feet. He could be an only dog if someone is home much of the day — a retiree or a work-from-home adopter would be perfect. &#226&#156&#168 Bear needs someone willing to give an overlooked senior a real chance. He is sweet. He is snuggly. He is heartbreakingly grateful for even the smallest kindness. If you give Bear a home, he will fill your days with warmth, loyalty, and quiet companionship. He just needs someone who will say, “Your story isn’t over yet.” EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Bears owner passed away and BFPA is helping him find his forever home.  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
