You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Susanna! This 5-year-old Xoloitzcuintli/Cairn Terrier mix is a sweet and shy girl looking for a loving home. Susanna is leash trained, enjoys car rides, and loves playing with her toys. She's even-tempered but a little timid, so she'll need a patient person and potentially a confident companion dog to help her feel secure. She's also good with cats. Given her mostly hairless coat, she'll need some cozy sweaters to stay warm, especially in chilly Minnesota. One of her favorite things? Breakfast! If you're looking for a cute, calm companion who will thrive with a bit of TLC, Susanna might just be the perfect addition to your home. Watch this cute video of Susanna! Or this one, where you can see her happy tail wiggles! Susanna  is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program.   Click here   to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. My name is Little Bit. I'm from Alabama! From his foster: Little Bit is a one of a kind guy. At our home we have been calling him Herb - because he reminds us of an old man with his constant love for napping and food! Herb is a dog with seizures, so he requires 3 times a day medication. He has improved a little bit with the crate but still isn't great. He does well being out with no supervision! He has minimal accidents in the house but we put belly bands on him and he does amazing with those. Herb loves nothing more than to snuggle under the blankets with you any time of the day! He loves food, so if you're eating be prepared to have him beg at your feet for a little taste! He currently lives with 2 dogs and 2 cats and does well with all of them! He loves kids as well, preferrably if they're over the age of 4. From the Vet: Hi, My name is Little Bit and I would like to share some information about my medical history. I have active epilepsy, however I am currently managing these episodes on anti seizure drugs three times daily and doing well as long as I get the meds on that consistent schedule. As long as you are comfortable and able to help me in this way, I know I will be an amazing addition to any family!

Hi! My name is Lil Bit and I am from Arkansas. From my Foster! Lil Bit is a TOTAL lap dog - she just wants to snuggle on your lap. She is very loving and loves your attention. She'll be your little shadow. She still gets a bit nervous with loud noises, and is very loyal to me. She loves to go on walks. She wants to meet all dogs on our walks to see if she can make new friends. She loves food and LOVES her treats. She would love to sleep with you. She tolerates me brushing her teeth, such a good girl! From the Vet: I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will need to have a bilateral knee surgery to repair my grade 3/4 luxating patellas after my heartworm treatment has been completed. Don't worry Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! My adoption can still take place while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center and the completion of the MPL procedures. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family. I hope I can find a special home for a special dog like me. If your looking for a lil pup to spoil I may be your girl!

Hello my name is Mimi and I was surrendered along with my best friend Daisy after our owner died. Daisy and Mimi have to stay together. They are truly bonded and like to be right next to each other at all times. They are dog friendly and have spent a lot of time at boarding facilities and in large play groups. They are very social with people but we haven't seen them around kids specifically so we don't know how they'll do with really young kiddos. We also don't know how they are with kitties. They are house trained and are not big barkers. They just want a place where they can stay together after losing their owner. From their foster: Daisy and Mimi are two siblings that are a bonded pair. They spend lots of time together and will need to be adopted by the same family. They are such happy good girls. Both Daisy and Mimi enjoy going to daycare with other dogs, they are friendly with all types of dogs, so with proper introductions, they should be a good match with any other dogs (probably cats too! - although we haven't tested them). They are very small so keep that in mind. Most of the time, they are content to snuggle on the couch with one another - or the human, but they occasionally will run around and wrestle with each other or with other dogs. They are both so loving and affectionate with their humans. They love to be carried around, give kisses, and snuggled with. At first, they may be shy, but are quick to warm up with people. They are very food motivated and enjoy eating their meals in the crate. They would likely be easy to train due to this.
