Story
Spearow is a young Chihuahua mix, born appx March 2022.  He is looking for a new home because his owner became sick and is unable to care for him.  He is fast and athletic.  He loves to go on walks and loves being outside!  Spearow is unsure of new people, but will snuggle with you on his terms.  He's a sweetheart and will put his head in your hand so you'll pet him and give him belly rubs.  Spearow is not a fan of big dogs, but he has participated in dog play groups at NHS and should be okay with smaller dogs in the home.  He does not get along with cats.  Spearow sleeps in a pet bed in his foster mom's bedroom and he likes to have a blanket over him.  Spearow will need a quiet home with people that have experience with Chihuahuas.  He is very protective of his food, space and belongings, so it would be better for him if there are no children in the home.  He prefers women to men.  Spearow is a little guy weighing in at appx 10 pounds, so he won't take up much space!  If you have a lap to share, Spearow just might be your guy!   The suggested adoption donation for Spearow is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Adoptions for Spearow are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Jerry is absolutely the sweetest dog and really just needs someone to be his best friend.  He is a senior Chihuahua mix (b. May 2012), who was brought to Muddy Paws through a partnership with the Artemis Project - an Arkansas-based animal rescue. After Jerry came to Omaha, he was adopted and spent about a year and a half with someone.  His owner became ill and can no longer care for him.  We need your help to find him a special home to live his best life.  He is a sweetheart and is friendly with other small, laid-back dogs his size (no big dogs!).  He has done well around other small dogs and cats/kittens in his foster home. Jerry really needs to be with someone that will not be gone for long hours of the day.  He would be happy going places with you, on car rides and even for walks in a dog stroller.  If you are working at home, he will be at your feet napping all day.  He really does not like to be left home alone.  He would make an amazing emotional support dog for someone and appears to be very good with people, although young kids should ease into petting him. A few things we've learned about Jerry: He needs a home with a yard rather than apartment living. He will benefit from being with someone that can let him outside every few hours. Belly bands work well if you’re going to gone a few hours. He does well with a meal and potty break schedule. Since he’s an older guy, he needs stairs or a ramp to get on the couch (he has minimal depth perception and gets a little anxious since he can’t jump up). Jerry is a toothless fella, so he'll need a home where other resident pets are friendly, easygoing, and happy to have another senior friend around.  He is a little overwhelmed by small children, but would be okay with older kids in the home.  One of his favorite things to do is spending time curled up with his person!  If you're looking for a sweet little cuddle man, this senior guy might be the one for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jerry is $325. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission.
