Muppet is a handsome 2-year-old Wire-Haired Pointing Griffon mix with a heart as sweet as can be! This gentle boy loves going on walks where he can sniff to his heart’s content, and he’s always up for some tasty treats. When he’s not out exploring, he enjoys curling up for cozy naps. Muppet is currently recovering from a skin infection caused by demodex mites and bacteria, but there’s no need to worry—there’s no risk of spread to other animals or people! Our clinic is optimistic that his beautiful coat will grow back, though in rare cases, some dogs with generalized demodex may not regain all their fur. No matter what, Muppet is ready to bring love, snuggles, and tail wags to his forever home! When Muppet arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, he tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Muppet to recover is in a loving forever home. If you choose to adopt Muppet, the clinic staff will support you every step of the way, answering questions and providing guidance throughout his treatment. The Heartworm treatment process typically takes about three months and includes simple at-home care to keep Muppet safe while he recovers. The final step is a follow-up test six months after treatment begins to ensure he is fully cured. Heartworm treatment is highly successful, and the staff expects Muppet to make a full recovery! Plus, it's important to know that Heartworm is only transmitted by mosquitoes and cannot spread from animal to animal.
