Story
Meet Beau! This sweet boy was rescued as a stray and is ready to find his forever family. Beau loves hanging out with other dogs and is working hard on his potty training. He’s sweet, he’s smart, and he’s ready for forever! FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Story
CALLING ALL LONG HAIR LOVERS! Meet Gabriel Nickname: Baby Gabe Breed: Cairn Terrier/ Papillon mix Rescue: Albert's Dog Lounge Age: 7 yrs Weight: 14 lbs Fun fact: I can’t hold my licker! I’m just so excited to be out of the puppy mill! Did you know: My foster says my hair looks like a 1920s flapper dress Foster home: Madison, WI Home state: Wisconsin Activity level: Low/Moderate Friendly with: Dogs. Cats and children are untested, but I am such a friendly boy that chances are really good that I would be totally amazing with them. Sleep style: I like to sleep belly up in the people bed, cuddled up against you. Meals: currently being hand fed chicken. Not sure if my poor teeth hurt or if I just don’t understand food from a bowl yet. Snore-o-meter: 2 (I have the sweetest little snore sometimes) Bark-o-meter: 1 (only if I am segregated away from everyone else) Shedding meter: 6 (my long hair is beautiful and will need regular brushing or it will end up on your floor) Fart-o-meter: 0 Fashion: Dapper doggy diaper wrap Signature color: Lime green Walk out song: Wherever I May Roam~ Metallica Favorite season: Spring (I want to explore the world, grass beneath my feet) Personality: Sweet, affectionate, gentle, alert, social & curious Best feature: My soulful eyes that tell you just how grateful I am to you Signature move: Smothering you with my love ❤️s: Snuggling, playing and cuddling with doggy friends, being your shadow, Netflix, hanging out on the couch, neighborhood walkies, socializing & lounging in front of the fireplace Bucket list: going camping, sniffing leaves in the fall, boat rides on the lake Will be neutered January 3 ✅ Takes treats gently ✅ Walks easily on a leash ✅ Roams freely when home alone ✅ Will be fully vaccinated January 3 ✅ UTD on preventatives ✅ Special needs: Sweet Gabriel has had an incredibly tough life to this point. He was just removed from a puppy mill, where he was forced into a life of neglect, fear, and abuse as a breeder. While he is a very sweet boy, and is incredibly well adjusted considering his past, he still does have some challenges. Puppy mill dogs may never effectively potty train. An adopter could absolutely work on potty training with him, but would need to understand that he may always be a diaper dog. He does currently wear a belly band with a poise pad inside, which works perfectly. Gabriel also is struggling with eating from a bowl. He seems to be hungry, and will eat from your hand, but at the moment, he will only take a bite or two from a bowl, maybe, before dancing away from it. I’m not sure if this is a remnant from the puppy mill or if his rotted teeth hurt so badly that eating with his face down is painful. He will be having a full dental, and any rotted teeth removed, January 3. Additional preferences: Gabriel loves to be around you. He would prefer to be around you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. He does fine free roaming the house when you are not home, but most mill dogs do not do well-being created. An adopter would have to commit to using something like an X pen or gating off an area like a kitchen or bathroom if they determined he were unable to free roam for whatever reason. Foster location: Madison, WI.   Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair).
