Story
Newman is sensitive, watchful, a bit intense, playful with his peers and sensitive to what humans through his way. He's a cool dog, ready for dog savvy folks willing to give him a bit of patience, lots of love, ongoing socialization - he loves other dogs and playtime! He's handsome, frisky and wiry good fun. Newman is not a boy for farm life.... he has a taste for chickens. We also know that Newman is not comfortable around young children and toddlers - so ideally an adult home (not expecting to have children) would be best for Newman. He needs collar and leash work and is a little more independent - he take a little time to warm up to people, but he does and is a sweetheart. He is from a group of 18 dogs from a rescue in Mexico that fell on hard times, came to California with 90 dogs and their plans for a new location feel through. These dogs (and more!) were in desperate need of a place to go. So... Milo to the rescue! 20 more are headed to the Milo Sanctuary. These dogs were well cared for, and they have never been alone. They always had other dogs with them, and are very dog friendly. They are also very people friendly and love attention and seek affection! We know they would be happiest in a home with a friend or at least another dog in the home and lots of people time. As long as they get plenty of people time and aren't home alone for long stretches of time - they will be very happy. Please consider giving a home to one or two of these dogs. $400 adoption fee. $600 for two.

Story
Kirby is a gorgeous 6 yo scruffy terrier mix, with the most beautiful amber eyes. He is approximately 50 lbs and one of the most photogenic dogs we have at Jelly's Place. Kirby is a happy dog who loves to play with squeaky toys, take walks and relax on the couch with his favorite hoomans. He loves to dig for buried treasure and will let you dress him up in costumes for the different holidays. He is smart, walks great on a leash, is food motivated and eager to please. Kirby can be a little nervous when meeting new people. However, once he knows you, he is loving, affectionate and the best company. Kirby is a staff and volunteer family. One volunteer has called him "the love of your life kind of dog." The ideal family for Kirby would be a single person or couple, with dog experience. Kirby would make a great walking companion, but he's just as happy to lay at your feet, amuse himself with a toy or just relax until you are ready to take a break. Kirby would prefer to be the only animal in the family, but we don't think that is too much to ask. He has so much love to give and will thrive in the right home! . Kirby is UTD on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted. Kirby's adoption fee is sponsored by a Jelly Place's volunteer.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, November 16th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $500   Tricycle is a 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier mix who is rolling his three wheels on a trail leading straight to your heart! Tricycle was rescued from a hoarding situation with his brothers, Unicycle and Bicycle. We promised to find these amazing pups the best forever homes and after inflating their tires and giving them some TLC, we were ready to hit the trails! Tricycle weighs 15 pounds and has that perfect JRT body for those who know and love the breed. If you’re ready for a new companion to take on life with, come on down to the DPS bike shop and meet Tricycle!        Tricycle is like a caterpillar: we know that inside of him is a gorgeous butterfly just waiting to unfurl his wings and fly! Tricycle came to us very scared of the world around him as it hadn’t been so kind to him. We gave him the time he needed to decompress and could tell he knew life was only going to get better from there. Fast forward a few days, Tricycle was getting comfortable and started giving some puppy kisses to his foster mom. He’s even started figuring out how amazing a good long belly rub can be and his little tail wags when he sees his treats. We’ve seen him gain bravery as the days pass by which is just the most rewarding aspect of rescue in the world. Tricycle even found out how amazing being cuddled is and he will sit by your side on the couch quietly as he soaks up your love. Tricycle is a loving guy who just wants to show you how much potential he has if you give him the chance. Once you earn his trust, you will be rewarded with a lifetime of devotion. Tricycle is super smart as well as any good JRT is and he’s perceptive too! One day he saw his canine foster sibling perform for a treat and the next day he was doing his best to mirror the behavior for the reward. What a genius we have on our hands! Tricycle can’t wait to pedal his way into your heart and never leave again!  Tricycle starts his morning when his foster mom starts the coffee pot, around 6 AM. He heads out for a potty session before returning to his pen for breakfast. Once he’s finished eating, he gets a cuddle session before his foster mom heads to work. During the day, Tricycle snoozes off and on in his various plush beds. He loves to sunbathe and is often found sleeping on his back as he soaks up the sun. Once his foster mom comes home, he goes out on a walk to stretch his legs and sniff. Dinner is served around 6 PM followed by some TV watching on the couch. He goes out for one last potty before going back into his pen around 11 PM.  Tricycle has always lived with other dogs and would benefit from a resident confident dog in his forever home. He adores his people and will cautiously meet new people as long as his person is nearby to encourage him. He loves his walks and is getting braver at exploring the world outside the front door. Tricycle will require a home prepared to continue his socialization and exposure training to ensure his confidence continues to grow. Come on and unlock the bike lock on Tricycle’s heart and meet your new pal!      Tricycle is only an option for homes with prior dog owning experience. He is an option for foster to adopt. Tricycle would be best suited for an adult-only home. November 15, 2024, 5:23 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Midge is a 9 month old Jack Russell x Maltese mix who is excited to snuggle her way into your life! Midge was rescued from the shelter when we went to scoop up some newborn puppies. We saw her adorable face pressed up against the bars of her kennel and knew we couldn’t leave her behind. She hopped into the rescue van and away we went! Midge weighs around 12 pounds and according to her foster, she’s just the happiest gal ever. Midge does have a shedding coat but it could be managed with grooming. Midge can’t wait to bounce into your life and never let you go!      Midge is an affectionate, snuggly little goofball who is prepared to tumble into your lap with a toy and show you her playful side! If you’re hoping for a constant shadow who’s always ready for a belly rub or a snuggle, Midge is your gal! She would be an amazing companion for someone who works from home, as she loves just being near her people. However, she’s totally fine to amuse herself for hours if you need to leave her at home. Midge is a total foodie and a super smart gal, so we think she would thrive in any training class. She’s also a magician! When she’s near socks, she can make them disappear! Oh Midge… Midge would be an awesome addition to any home looking for a faithful companion who will shower them in love and affection. Her foster mom absolutely raves about her and we know what a high compliment that is! You won’t be able to resist her adorable puppy dog eyes and her wagging tail as she charms you from the moment you meet her.  Midge wakes up around 7 AM and heads out for the potty with all the resident dogs. She eats breakfast at 9 AM and then heads into her crate for a nap as her foster mom goes to work. In the afternoon, she enjoys some playtime with the playful resident dog, zooming across the yard and smiling with joy. She goes on a walk with the pack around 5 PM, before she comes home for dinner at 6 PM. In the evening, Midge snuggles with her foster mom as she watches TV. She goes out for one last potty and then heads to her crate at 9 PM.  Midge gets along fabulously with dogs and cats of all ages and sizes. She would be a great companion animal. She is potty trained and crate trained. When she meets new people, she needs a few minutes to get settled in, but once she knows you, she loves you forever! Midge would benefit from some additional training but has gotten a great base from her foster home. Ready for cuddles and kisses? Come meet Midge today!      Midge is an option for a variety of homes, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.November 19, 2024, 4:27 pm
