Story

5 ½ month old Sokka is a mix of Whippet and Retriever. He's a handsome fella who won't be a huge boy when mature; in fact, he'll be about 45 pounds. Sokka is named after a fictional character, but there's nothing pretend about our boy. Take a close look at his pictures, at his eyes, and you'll see shyness there. But it's a shyness that is easily tempered by time, understanding, and a stroking of his fine and long coat. He does love this as much as he enjoys playing with his friends. No, there's nothing imagined here. If you take Sokka home with you, you'll see as he comes out of his shell to become yours. (posted 1/18/25, ME) Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. ALBUS was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending him with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. ALBUS was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 35 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 2 July 2022. ALBUS's story is that he and his siblings was saved from a high traffic construction site where many other stray dogs had been killed. They were young puppies and taken to the safety of a wonderful Omani lady who cared for them until they was around 6months at which time he and his siblings were transferred to the Muscat Dog Adoption location. When saved Albus had a lot of damage to his tail that resulted in at least half of it being amputated in February 2023. Two of his siblings came to Give a Dog a Home Rescue back in April 2024, Bellatrix and Myrtle and have since been adopted. Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. If not saved these dogs are often shot or brutally ran over and left for dead. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. ALBUS is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550, as noted he is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet boy. HATTIE's story is that she was found as a young pup in a busy tourist area in Muscat where dogs are either shot or run over and left for dead. Sadly her mother and all 5 of her siblings had been shot and she was the only survivor. Hattie was taken to a wonderful Omani lady who cared for along with a lot of other dogs. Whilst she spent most of her time in a large crate where she could stand and stretch and was taken out for bathroom breaks. She only got to go on walks twice a week when volunteers would come and help with the dogs. Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames.
