Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. DEXTER was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending him with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. DEXTER was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 34 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 16 September 2022. DEXTER's story is that he was rescued in January 2023 with his sister as young pups in a high traffic area around a lot of hotel complex's where dogs are not welcome and often shot or run over. They were taken to Muscat Dog Adoption Rescue where they were cared for until homes or transfer to another rescue was found. His sister was adopted and Dexter was lucky enough to come over to the US for his forever family to find him. Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. If not saved these dogs are often shot or brutally ran over and left for dead. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. She is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 36 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 13 July 2022. LULA's story is that she was living as a young pup (around 3 months) in an area with her beautiful mum and siblings. The police, as they do to stray dogs in Oman, shot her mum and siblings. Lula and one of her brothers miraculously survived, however, her brother had a badly broken jaw from being shot and ended up being put to sleep.  LULA had severe wounds to both her hind legs and front paw of which the veterinarian believes were done by a human to torture her. Thankfully with medical care and treatment she healed well and was able to go to the Muscat Dog Adoption Rescue where she stayed until she was lucky to be chosen to come to the US.   Stray dogs in Oman are referred to as "Wadi Dogs" and are a mix of the popular sighthound breeds, specifically thought to be descendents of the majestic Saluki and other smaller breeds, many resembling whippets with their small agile frames. Story
SPEEDWAGON - 1 year, 30lbs, Whippet/Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: "Speedwagon needs a home in a calm part of the city - BK, Queens, etc. He would thrive in the burbs. He's not meant to be a city boy."  His Foster Parent Says: "Speedwagon( aka Speedy) Is a wonderful dog. He is full of life and energy. He is playful, sweet, loves his pets and cuddles. He is still a younger dog, so some training is still needed. He does know basic commands like sit, stay, and lay down. He is friendly with our resident dog and would most likely do great with another dog." Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level High — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time  Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents  Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) - n/a or unsure Social with Other Dogs? Mostly — Generally good with other dogs but may be picky - he displays friendly and playful behavior with our resident dog. Unsure about other dogs though! Mouthy Behavior? Higher  – We don't believe he was ever trained to not be mouthy. Wants to put everything in their mouth. Tries to chew on your hands when playing or needs attention, grabs the leash with its mouth, loves to gnaw on your personal belongings. We are working on training that out of him. Saying no, no biting or ow. Replacement toys. He is fast to stop or let go.  Leash Manners? Getting the Hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he/she is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction.  Okay in the city? Needs to live in a calm area - NOT a city boy — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction and further training.  Separation Anxiety? Low – Completely fine being left home alone. Usually found on the couch. Just have to make sure the house is safe as he is still mouthy Crate training? Not at all – We are working on getting one, just so he begins to have an option. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Birgit is adorable and curious girl who loves giving kisses! As a 8-month-old pup, Birgit has a lot of energy and enjoys playing with other dogs and going on walks. Her skills walking on leash need some improvement. This beautiful girl was found as a puppy roaming around a busy road, fortunately a concerned tourist brought her to the shelter SOS el Arca Animal Rescue where she received love and care. Birgit is good with children, and friendly with dogs and cats. This sweet girl is also well-behaved when meeting new people, but she is shy at first and needs some encouragement with treats and time to feel comfortable. She is food motivated so training process should be easy. If you enjoy going for long walks and want a constant companion by your side—this is the dog for you! Once adopted we require all adopters to sign up for a group training puppy class so he can learn the rules of life. This allows for continued socialization and learning and helps to create a well-mannered and well-balanced dog. Birgit is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, dewormed and microchipped. Interested in this sweet love bug? Please visit our website to fill out adoption application or email us at sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com and we will happily get back to you. Birgit is ready and waiting for some belly rubs!

Story
Jessy is a 6-month-old, sweet, happy, and playful boy. He is a typical puppy who is energetic and mischievous, but with training he will develop into a beautiful dog. His potty training has begun and will require work from the adopter. Crate training and routine will assist greatly with this. He is shy at first, but with gentle engagement and treats he opens up quickly! He would greatly benefit from being in a house with another dog who he can learn from and gain confidence. Jessy was rescued with 6 siblings, so he grew up at the shelter and is now ready for the next chapter with a loving home. Will you open your heart and home to this beautiful boy? Jessy is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. His current weight is 18 lbs and he will continue to grow a little more. Story
Keicy is a playful, friendly, gentle, athletic 7-month-old girl! She is a perfect mix—we believe she has some Whippet and some German Shepherd, not only because of her looks but because she is very smart and easily trainable. She is a sweet, affectionate, and goofy little pup who is always ready for a walk. She loves everyone—kids, dogs, and anyone she meets on her walks. She will be your best friend in no time! Keicy was found on the street as a puppy by a Good Samaritan who brought her to SOS El Arca Animal Rescue, where she was raised with love and care. She is great with other dogs, very friendly and playful with them, so she could easily join a household with another dog or be a single dog. She is a confident dog, so she can be adopted in the city, as well as in the suburbs. Her potty training has begun and will require work from the adopter. Crate training and routine will assist greatly with this. Keicy is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, 4dx tested: negative for heart worm, currently on flea/tick/heart worm prevention, and dewormed. Ready to open your heart to Keicy? This sweet skinny girl was abandoned locally, looking like she recently had puppies. She's a friendly social butterfly, has been very playful meeting people and other dogs. We think she's about 4-5 years old and the perfect size at about 40lbs once she fills out a little. We aren't quite sure of her breed mix but she looks a bit like an oversized jack russell, with some cattle dog, pointer, or sighthound mixed in and a short bent tail. She will be a fun companion for an active family and loves making new friends. Please submit an application to meet her Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 34.625 Age: 5yrs 0mths 1wks

Meet Hope! Hope is 1 year old and about 43 lbs. This sweet and gentle soul was found as a stray alongside three other dogs, and she’s now looking for her forever home. Hope loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she’s always up for a little playtime. But when she’s not having fun, she’s a true couch potato who loves nothing more than snuggling up with her humans. Hope is currently in foster care with other dogs, where she’s getting along great, and she has also been around older kids and is wonderful with them. In fact, Hope would do best with another confident dog in the home to show her the ropes. Hope is microchipped, spayed, up to date on vaccines and her adoption fee is $415.  Apply to adopt  HOPE LONESTAR at www.ehrdogs.org   February 21, 2025, 8:20 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. BINKY was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption, before sending him with other saved dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue where they are settling in. BINKY was cleared by the US canine center for diseases upon entry into the US. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, heartworm and tick tested negative, is on monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 43 pounds and has an estimated date of birth or 7 April 2022. BINKY's story is that he was  rescued in June 2023 with his mum, Geyran who came to the US at the same time as him. Binky was born on the streets and with his mum and siblings lived as a happy and friendly neighbourhood dog for about one year until they were all targeted and shot. Binky & his mum survived, sadly his siblings did not. Binky was shot in the throat, and genital area. Luckily the wounds were superficial but the bullet in his throat was not removed because it was lodged in so deeply.   Binky and mum Geyran were taken to a wonderful Omani lady who cared for them until they were lucky enough to come to the US. They spent most of the time in large crates where they could stretch and stand up and were taken out to do their business and short walks. Twice a week volunteers would go and take all the dogs out on longer walks. BINKY is available for adoption for an adoption fee of $300, as noted he is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine and families are required to complete and submit an  adoption application and when approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home this sweet boy.
