Story
Kiara is a Whippet Mix thought to be about 2 years old. She was found with tape around her muzzle, which resulted in a hairless discolored stripe on the top of her snout. Thankfully, this has since healed and does not cause her any concern! Regardless of this terrible act, she loves people and other dogs. She currently lives in a home with 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 dogs (a large and a medium sized which are more submissive). She has been trying to find her place in the pack. She is not aggressive yet tries to stand her ground. Kiara is trying to be potty trained. When let out she will go and we are learning her queues. She does better when she is not out with the rest of the pack as she gets distracted. She is kennel trained; sometimes barking about 3-5 minutes before settling down, sometimes being quiet right away. She did have a mat in her kennel but destroyed that on day 2 and has not been reattempted. She sleeps in the kennel in a separate room but would welcome being able to sleep with her humans. She LOVES car rides and does super well. She does know how to walk on a leash but with the cold, she has not had too many chances. She does well if kept at the hip but given too much slack she will lunge to say hi to anybody passing. She does not mind wearing a jacket or boots. She will bark to alert, but in general, is not a barker. Kiara has a few areas where she has been working on manners. She likes to counter surf, especially when any food is present. She has been better at listening to “OFF” and self-correcting. She likes to play with whatever toy the other dogs are playing with and politely steals bones and balls. She does jump with excitement, Tigger bouncing up to 4 feet straight up. She does not, however, jump up onto things (like the couch or into the car) choosing to adorably crawl up instead. She has never made any attempt to jump towards/over a fence. Overall, Kiara is an ABSOLUTE delight who quickly attaches to humans. She would love a yard to run in and a lap to lay on.
