Story
Meet Penny! She originally transferred to us a young pup from the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility in 2018.
Adopted in 2018, Penny returned to us in July of this year. She was originally listed as a Labrador/Boxer mix pup, but seeing her full adult size and markings, we now have her listed as a Basenji mix.
Penny's developed anxiety in her previous home which compounded over the years and became fear-based reactivity. We recommend reviewing her origin & progress stories below:

Behavioral Considerations: With dedication to her training with CRT K9 Dog Training in a foster home setting and being surrounded by those experienced with the nuances of dog behavior, Penny is thriving and enjoys her foster home filled with 5 dogs, another foster dog (Tank), and 4 cats.
While there are multiple management techniques in place that help her peacefully co-exist in a multi-animal home, Penny will do best in a home that has either:
-No pets
-An owner with extensive experience with safely managing a multi-dog (any size) or multi-animal household (she can get a little carried away when playing and needs to be slowed down)
-An owner experienced with reactive dogs
Penny develops a heavy attachment to those she loves. She adores her foster mom and with love, patience, and a structured setting, she will also look at her future mom/dad as though you are her sun, her moon, and all her stars. A loyal gal indeed!
We want her to succeed in this second chance at adoption and are looking for an adopter that is not just excited about her adorable face and kissable cheeks but has the experience and means to care for a dog that isn't looking for the mental overstimulation that dog parks provide. Penny prefers to get her exercise with her people and dogs she has built trust with, and who are respectful of her boundaries. We as humans can definitely empathize with that!
While Penny does enjoy cuddle time, down time, and lots of kisses, she is quite the track star and loves to sprint, explore, and fetch during play time! A home what will keep her active in a safe & controlled environment is where she will thrive!
We will send a package of professional training sessions to her future home, to give Penny her best foot forward in a new environment. A trainer coming directly to an adopter's home for these sessions will ensure that she thrives and is helped along through another life change.
