Story
Hi everyone, I'm the marvellous Mijo, an 8 year old whippet/husky mix! My Vancouver foster says that I am the epitome of a fun-loving canine companion, with a heart full of joy and a tail that never stops wagging.  I am cuddly, affectionate, and love my furry friends and humans of all ages. My loyalty is unmatched; I'm just happy to be shadowing you, making sure everything is ok and just generally being a good companion. This however doesn't mean that I'm needy. I am quite understanding of personal space, so just give me a gentle command to lie down and I'll oblige. While I love being social, I am also independent enough to be on my own without any problems. Of course, I will always be overjoyed to see you return. Unfortunately, I had a rough start in life. I was rescued from the streets of Mexico, where I had hot oil poured on me and I was treated horribly. Someone finally rescued me from the streets, but more recently, my owner left me at the dog walker's place and just never came back for me. I can't understand why someone would just abandon me? Anyways, I am looking for my new forever family and home. Do you need a super-chill but confident companion? I might just be the one! While my hips are kind of stiff, I can jump in a car and go up and down stairs fine. Likely some glucosamine or other joint supplement will help. I can have a little nervous reaction of barking in a new environment when people approach me or another dog lunges/pulls towards me when out on a walk, I will lunge back in protective fear, but am fine on just a walk by. I settle down well once I feel more comfortable in the setting. Part of this may be my older vision, not seeing what is coming as easily. I actually love playing with other dogs and humans. I'm good at following commands too. I will need someone patient to work me through trepidation of new people coming into the home. It can take me a bit to warm up and feel comfortable with people. While I have no teeth, I might snap if pressed too quickly. Other than that character flaw, I'm really a good dog. Energy Level: moderate Fears: none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: My foster says I do well at following cues and commands. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training. House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2046072##

Story
Greetings. My name is JOSELLE and here is a little info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Whippet/German Shepard mixAge: 2-1/2 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 20 kgHeight (ground to shoulder):  45 cmHighlights: playful, friendly, calm, cuddly, affectionate, curious In such a short time, I have such come a long way. I look forward to going further... to Canada and become a true Canadian puptizen with a family to love and who loves me.Almost 2 years ago, someone called my rescuers to help a dog who had a plastic jar stuck on her head for more than a week. You guessed it, it was me. It was summer time in Israel, the weather was hot and I surely was not getting enough air, nor any food and water. But I was so hungry, I had to lick the bottom of that grand smelling jar for what nourishment I could find.My rescers went to look for me, but we couldn’t find me. They returned the next day until they did. I was found hiding under a tree. I had finally been able to remove the jar, but my ears were in bad condition. They tried to catch me, but I was trying to bite them. Though they had difficulty controlling me, they were able to finally catch me with a net. They took me immediately to a vet where I was treated. Phew, quite the ordeal. After a few months, I turned into a very well socialized and confidant lady. After I realized they didn't want to hurt me and were actually caring for me, I learned that life with humans can actually be good. Not like my life on the streets. So, I have become quite loyal to my new people. When hearing loud voices, I can startle and get a little jumpy. Sometimes the sounds of cars is scary. So hoping you can reassure me on walks with cars around. Having been in the war zone here, it is going to take some settling learnjng, I am no longer in danger. Now I enjoy playing and though a bit shy, am friendly once I have time to get over the anxiousness of meeting someone new. In fact, I am cuddly and affectionate. Also, I tend to be a fairly calm albeit curious girl. You'll find me a bright pup with an amusing personality to keep you smiling.I take walks on a leash, very well I might add. Though active, I am not hyper at all. I get along with my doggie friends, but not always with the kitties. I haven't had interactions with children. Energy Level: moderate to moderate-highI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: NoKids: unknown Fears: Loud voices can startle me. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: yes. Story
This sweet pup is named Glass! She's ready for adoption and so very deserving of a FURever home. ~ AGE: 9 months ~ GENDER: Female ~ WEIGHT: 22 lbs. ~ BREED: Whippet mix ~ GOOD WITH DOGS: Yes! ~ GOOD WITH CATS: Yes! ~ GOOD WITH KIDS: Yes! Glass and her siblings were rescued when they were just 1 month old. They were found abandoned on the outskirts of Guadalajara. Our rescue partners took the puppies into their care as soon as they heard of the situation. Fortunately for Glass, she was rescued at a young age, before enduring any trauma or suffering on the streets.  Glass is now staying in boarding at the veterinary clinic in Chapala, Mexico. She spends her days with other dogs, as well as kitties, plus the staff and members of the rescue group. Although she is not in a “home” setting, she picked up the rules & routines of the facility very quickly. She knows where to do her business, where to go for bedtime, and how to mind her manners around the other animals.  Glass is also crate trained (sleeps in her crate at night) and comfortable walking on leash. She’s always eager to learn new things and make her caretakers proud - she has shown everyone that she’s quite the smart cookie! Like a typical puppy, Glass is playful, goofy, and curious of her surroundings. She enjoys all kinds of outdoor activities (trails, parks, hikes) and has fun bouncing around with her toys! Glass is great with other dogs, always happy to join in playtime with canine pals. She is also accustomed to living with cats, as there are many kitties at her boarding facility. When meeting new people, Glass is initially shy and reserved. But with some time and reassurance, her loving, affectionate, cheerful nature shines. She has touched the hearts of everyone who cares for her because she really just wants to feel loved and belong somewhere. She longs for a forever home with a family of her own. Glass would love a home where she can take her time to settle in, build trust, and allow her sweet personality to blossom. She’d be great in a home with dogs, cats, and kids age 8+. We think she’d love a doggie sibling who could show her the ropes and spend time playing with her. She’ll also be a wonderful match for someone who enjoys outdoor activities. Could you be the one to give this special girl a chance to show her true sparkle? Glass is such a kind-hearted dog, and once she gets over her initial shyness, she’ll shower you with unconditional love & loyalty.   VETTING:  Fully vaccinated.  Spayed.  Dewormed.  SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma). Distemper negative.  Flea/tick/heartworm prevention. No known medical issues or injuries.   PLEASE NOTE: Glass is currently in Mexico. There will be a $235 fee for transportation to BC. This will be discussed upon approval. ##2212976##
