Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): Yellow/BlueYellow—May be more shy or skittish/does better in calmer environments.Blue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children 12 years and older, on a kid-by-kid basis.Could she do well with other dogs? Maybe, Daisy can be selective with her dog companions.Has this dog lived with cats? No. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What their foster has to say about this animal: Daisy is a wonderful girl looking for meaningful connections and a loving companion. She enjoys nurturing and comforting interactions, including cuddling, and thrives best with a pet. When meeting new people and encountering unfamiliar objects, she benefits from a gradual introduction. It’s important to approach her gently; stopping at about a two-foot distance will help her feel more secure. While she may initially avoid direct eye contact and refrain from sniffing or investigating, she is comfortable simply being present. If someone moves too quickly or unexpectedly, she may become startled and distance herself. During mealtime, she prefers not to be petted or have anyone close by; managing her resources is key, so it`s recommended that she sit and wait for her food before being gently left to eat. She`s generally fine with someone moving an empty food bowl, but when eating, she tends to protect her bowl by burying her face in it. If approached too closely, she may pick it up and move away.Daisy walks well on a leash, although she tends to zigzag and pull slightly, which is manageable. She is responsive to leash pressure and typically stops pulling when she feels it. Despite having three legs, she moves quickly and is generally not sensitive to cooperative care, except for her hindquarters, where she may become stiff if touched. However, she is comfortable with handling her front end, including her amputated leg.Daisy is also proficient at entering and exiting her kennel and waits patiently when asked while you clip her leash. She appreciates having treats tossed into her kennel as positive reinforcement before going in. Overall, Daisy is a happy dog, and with the right approach, she can build wonderful relationships.---For more resources to help with any s
