Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Deborah or Debbie as she goes by, also Debs is the sweetest bashful girl you're going to meet. She bats her beautiful eyelashes at you and your heart melts. She wags her whole bottom at you and will often  jump up to greet you. However, when there is more than one person around, she tends to keep her distance or be very reserved. Debbie is learning to trust people and she does great one on one and building trust with women comes easy while men will have to work a little harder at it. Debbie is so submissive and kind it almost breaks your heart. She's smart and a very good listener. She happily goes in her crate and house training was a breeze with her. Her ideal home is quiet with one or two adults who can give her the love and affection she craves. Debbie has great potential to become a good leash walker and be trained to do about anything. However, she is very jumpy and nervous when she hears loud noises, so patience with her is a must. She also needs another dog to help her build confidence and a fenced yard to keep her safe. Who has love to give this very deserving girl? Please fill out an application to meet her. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
Can only be adopted in Texas Looking for a trusty sidekick to go on adventures with? A shaggy dog who'll never leave your side and will cuddle up with you to get through the long night? Well, look no further than Maya! This sandy, shaggy, terrier will sweep you off your feet and will make everyday feel like an adventure! Her honey eyes will always be sparkling to see you wherever you go and whenever you get back home! Maya is going to thrive as an only dog and would do best in a home that does not have a lot of doggie traffic coming and going. She likes her quiet life and she loves her person. Like most diva's she is not one to share her toys, people or space! Maya is the type of girl who would love the simply country lifestyle. Sitting on the porch with her person, afternoon strolls on the backyard. Really the quiet, relaxed, laidback kinda gal. Maya is a medium-sized dog (20-59#). Local adoption fee $200 (in TX)

*Meet the Fab Five!**We recently welcomed five sweet brothers into our care after their owner's home tragically burned down, leaving them at the local shelter. These sweet boys were born on January 12, 2018, making them 7 years old, they do not need to be adopted together. Here’s a quick intro to each of them:- **Yankee:** 62 pounds of charm- **Leo:** A lovable 59 pounds- **Reinhart:** Another 62-pound gentle giant- **Scooby:** The smallest at 52 pounds- **Casper:** The biggest brother at 66 poundsAll of the boys are about 15 pounds overweight and in need of a good grooming session, which we’re working on scheduling ASAP. Despite their rough journey, they were absolute gentlemen during intake—no issues with microchipping, vaccinating, or trimming their nails. We even managed to clean out some of the stickers from their beards. These boys have already shown us their sweet, cooperative natures, and we’re excited to see their personalities blossom as we get to know them better. Stay tuned for individual updates, but in the meantime, if you’re looking for a loyal and loving new family member—or two—these brothers are ready to start their next chapter!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.January 15, 2025, 6:09 am

Story
Hello my name is Amy and I'm originally from Missouri. I may be deaf but my mom tells me I am the prettiest little girl with my blue eyes and curly ears! I LOVE to be by my people, either by their feet or on their lap. I like to get my zoomies out and then I am the best cuddler/napper. I love to sleep with my humans, usually right by their neck. The kennel is not my favorite. I might have some separation anxiety too. My foster Mom is helping me with both issues so that someday I'll be a strong, confident companion. In the meantime, having another confident dog in the house is imperative for my mental, physical and emotional growth. I am learning how to do "all" things puppy. My leash training has been going well, I am just curious about everything so I make frequent stops. The resident dog has welcomed me and she is showing me the ropes. Sometimes she shows me her teeth when I get to be too much for her, I don't quite understand! I have been working hard on my potty training and I do really well on a schedule. Accidents are rare but every now and again, I just can't wait to get outside. Someday, I'll be perfect but until then, I'm just perfectly imperfect. My foster mom tells me I am bunny-like with as much as I jump around and land on all fours. I have managed to jump a baby gate and open a taller gate with my teeth. I am a very determined puppy who just wants to be with my people! I greet my family every morning and every time I see them with the best butt wiggle and tail wag. I'm also very food motivated and figured out how to jump up on the kitchen counter when there's food there. I'm pretty smart which helps with learning how to sit, touch, stop and come. I am not going to try to escape but since I'm deaf, I'm worried about what would happen if I ever got off leash. Accidents happen so I'm wearing an Apple Air Tag, just in case! Note: I was probably born deaf and the vet suspects my eye problem is congenital microphthalmia. Microphthalmia is an inherited eye disorder. No treatment or monitoring is required. Vision is probably impaired but you can't tell by my behavior!

Story
Hello my name is Athena, I’m from Minnesota! From her foster: Athena is a one-year-old bundle of joy who is ready to find her forever family! This energetic and curious pup is always on the lookout for her next adventure. Whether it’s exploring the backyard, sniffing out new trails, or chasing after squeaky toys (her absolute favorite!), Athena lives life with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. At night, Athena is a champ at settling into her crate, making her a great companion for families who value a good night’s rest. While she’s still learning leash manners and sometimes pulls a bit in her excitement, Athena is eager to please and would thrive with continued training. Like any young dog, Athena can get a little mouthy when playing with toys, but she’s learning boundaries and responds well to positive redirection. She’s a playful and affectionate girl who just needs a family ready to guide her as she grows. If you’re looking for an energetic, toy-loving companion who will keep you smiling, Athena is your girl! She would do great as a single pet or with an another dog who loves to play! She gets along great with our resident dog. Athena does have a tendency to bark when she sees animals outside, but it's because she's excited! A home with no shard walls may be best. We don't have a cat, so I cannot speak to how she would be around them. Athena can play a little rough so a home with older children that she couldn't knock over would be ideal!
