Story
Saphira is about 25 lbs. Looks like a Wheaten terrier with schnauzer. Possibly 5-7 years old, as she has some missing and worn down teeth but otherwise looks fine. Teeth are very white, so she could be younger and worn from chewing on rocks...? House trained. She was scared and shy on coming in. She's gradually improving with attention, though we don't recommend young kids at this time. But she's really a very good girl. She's made friends with some of the volunteers, and she now lets herself get picked up and sits in their laps. She also loves playing fetch! She responds to some commands, like sit and give paw. She will continue to open up with patience and if she's allowed to develop at her own pace. She seems to trust people the most when she sees them interacting with other dogs, especially her friends. She's been great with the small dogs here- very gentle and playful with them. *She came with matting on her head and neck, and that area has now been groomed. At the groomer's, she was very unhappy at first, but the groomer sat with her for half an hour, until she had warmed up more. She still didn't like the grooming, but by the end she was friendly with the groomer. Now that she's had this experience her next haircut should go better. She came from a home with 4 smaller dogs- Dumpling, Poe, Harper, & Jack London. She still needs to be spayed, but in the meantime you may make an appointment to meet her by emailing us with an application (found on our site under the Adopt a dog tab). Got her super-duper home with dog-loving retired guys, and she has moved to the desert new Palm Springs. We are thrilled for everyone - will be spayed soon as our vet can.*Note that young dogs and pure breeds are at the highest end of our prices.* Please find our applications and valuable information under "Adopt a dog"* on our website: *www.beaglesandbuddies.com* and email your application to beaglesandbuddies@gmail.com. We know the value and comfort of a loving pet companion and are doing our best to help the dogs and folks who need them. We update our website daily and are always rescuing, vetting, rehabilitating, socializing. Are you my furrever family? For further info on the adoption process, please visit our home page and check out the "Adopt a Dog" section, which has thorough instructions. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a leash, collar, and all medical records. Our prices are higher than the shelters' because we nurse the dogs through their illnesses and get them needed surgeries and dentals. We also spend time socializing. Furthermore, unlike shelters, rescues do not get financial aid from the government and must rely on donations, grants, and adoption fees. Our fees for adults start at $150 and usually go up to $750. Young adults that are high in demand may be a little over $750.00. For puppies and purebreds, we charge up to $1000. The lower end is for dogs who have been here a while. The good news is that, because rescues fall under the "charity" category, the fees for our dogs are officially donations and are therefore tax deductible. You can think of it as donating to a worthy cause and getting a dog in return! Sponsor Me Beagles & Buddies must find ways to raise money so we can continue saving dogs. Your tax-deductible donation keeps our rescue kennel operating!
