Story
Tristan is a delightful older gentleman looking for a lap (or two) to call his own.  He has obviously had a loving home at some point as he is house trained, very gentle and gets along well with other dogs. He recently fell on hard times for unknown reasons and was picked up as a stray. His teeth were in terrible shape, and most had to be removed. But, he is first in line at meal times and a full member of the clean plate club!  Tristan likes to potter around in the yard and enjoy the sun. As soon as you sit down he will climb into your lap - his favorite place to be.  He is an all round good boy, and no trouble at all. As an older gentleman Tristen cannot hear, but he is great at looking at you for cues so it is difficult to tell he does not hear. Tristan has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee of $250 helps offset the cost of medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think Tristan could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:  https://helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up. December 15, 2024, 12:22 pm

Story
Ernie is a sweet, loving, emotional, playful and well trained 10-year-old Wheaten Terrier who has been part of our family since he was a puppy. In our opinion, Ernie is the BEST dog in the entire world. He brings SO much joy into our lives and it is truly with broken hearts that we are looking for a new home for Ernie. Unfortunately, Ernie’s only (in our opinion) downside is that he does not do well with small children (infants/toddlers) or other dogs. We are expecting our first baby and we have come to the final conclusion that we just cannot risk having Ernie around our newborn. You would never know that Ernie has this side to him based on how sweet and loving he is to us, our family and our adult guests/friends. He also has never torn up a toy...he just gently holds his stuffed animals in his mouth, sucks on them and “makes muffins”, just like a cat would. He is a thoughtful, sweet, active, happy dog that needs to be in a single dog household with adults and older children (10+).

Story
Say hello to newcomer Arthur!   He is a 6 year old, 20 pound  Schnauzer - Havanese mix. Arthur came to us when his owner's circumstances changed, so he is used to living in a loving home and has excellent house manners. His favorite things are going for walks and playing with other dogs, plus of course meal times. His new home must have at least one other dog companion. His least favorite things are vet visits and grooming, so he needs someone who can understand his fears and work patiently with him. Arthur is very friendly and outgoing with people and other dogs and would be a great addition to any family. Arthur is microchipped, neutered and current on vaccinations. Ideal Forever Home:   Arthur needs a forever home with a securely fenced yard.  He also needs at least one other dog companion in the home.  We are not certain how Arthur reacts to children and we prefer to adopt him to an  adult only home or one with older considerate children. Adoption Fee: Arthur’s adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses as outlined above. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up . January 24, 2025, 12:16 pm
