FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Give a very warm welcome to Leia! She is an adorable 2-year-old, 10lb West Highland terrier/Dachshund mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA. Leia loves to be with her person, has a happy confidence to her, and an overall great personality. She walks well on leash and would enjoy being an adventure buddy accompanying her person wherever they go! She can be vocal and will bark at other dogs when they get to close. She would do best as an only dog in a standalone home outside of the city. Leia has adorable big ears and a short nub tail that makes for the best pick-me-up when you see it wag. She is a dog who will need regular grooming. She is going to make such a great companion for any lucky adopter that ends up bringing her home! Leia is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
This happy-go-lucky, full of life little guy is Rico and we believe he is a Cairn Terrier mix 22 pounds about 5 years old. Rico had a rough start when he came into our Rescue. It was determined he needed both of his knees replaced for him to be pain free. His recovery went very well. As a result of a successful surgery, he is now able to play Fetch, his favorite activity. Rico takes direction well and wants to please his humans. Rico will do best being the only dog. He is also respectful of cats. Would do best in an all-adult household or with children 10 yrs or older. He is good on car rides and comes with great house manners as well as being a first class cuddlier. His ideal home would have a house set back from the road with a large fenced yard where he can play with other dogs and be his true self. He has proven to be one of those rare dogs that does not do well on leash walks. (An adoption fee of $400 is required.) If you are interested in this dog, please go to the Adopt page of our website where you will find a link to an adoption application form. https://www.chewdogrescue.org/adopt If you have previously submitted an application form to CHEW, there is no need to reapply. Just let us know you're interested in this dog. We do our best to match families and dogs so everyone is pleased and the placement is permanent. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if the home situation is incompatible with the needs of the rescue dog. Rescue is about doing our best for the dog. We do home and reference checks. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and are up to date with current vaccinations before being placed in their forever homes.
