Story
PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - COOPER BREED - Terrier mix SIZE - About 15 pounds AGE - Around 2 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Cooper is a wonderful little dog with a challenging back story. He came to us after having been found as a stray. Cooper was posted on local lost and found pages, and it was learned that a lady had tried to surrender him to two local shelters but was unable to prove her residence in either place. The county where she claimed to live has no lost reports for him. Cooper has a couple very unique characteristics that his owner could immediately acknowledge. We he arrived his condition spoke of having been out and on his own for awhile. He was skeptical and quite the flight risk. Suring his stray hold Cooper has really settled in and relaxed and is now ready to find his new family. We believe that Cooper is around two years old and is likely a Westie mix. He's a happy boy who loves people, snacks, and selective toys. Cooper is not tested with other dogs or animals. He gets on well with every person he meets. Cooper is both quiet, and clean, and he walks well on a leash. Fully grown at just 15 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! Cooper is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We are seeking a home with an adopter able to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with him and help him acclimate to yet another new placement. A home without larger pets or small children, and with a fenced, secure yard will be a must. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Cooper and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Cooper at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
