Paige
Located in Sidney NE areaTerrier fusion 5ish years oldDog friendly but would do best with a dog that doesn’t lack proper personal space boundaries Cat friendly we were told but current foster doesn’t have cats No kids or OLDER calmer kids only House trained but will need a refresher when she moves homes Crate trained, knows a couple of commands but will need a refresher courseDoes have luxating patella’s that were a big issue when she was super rotund however since losing weight she has had no issues but she will need to stay on joint and collagen supplements. We will also have them checked out to see what the vet recommends. Will bite if pushed or scared Must eat separately Had a horrible ingrown dewclaw which we had corrected, she’s not a fan of nail trims so will likely need a professional to do them, likely with drugs... and a muzzle fit for a gremlin Was obese but we have really worked on it, much to her dismay, and she has slimmed down, for her Fully Vetted 15-20lbs approx
Are you constantly being told by your friends and family that you have horrible taste in significant others or friends and cannot try to fix everyone? Are you very empathetic and see the good in everyone similar to Pollyanna? Did you watch “Fraggle Rock” as a kid and as a result have a sincere and deep love of weird little furry, scruffy, hilarious creatures? Do you love carbs, especially loafs of bread, specifically short square loafs? Are you asking yourself what on earth this collection of weird questions could be leading to? Well it’s about to become very clear!
This always adorable, sometimes delightful, loaf shaped dog is Paige. Paige is a precious lil weirdo who is looking for a patient and understanding home to call her own. Despite her figure that’s similar to Winnie the Pooh, she believes herself to be a delicate flower. In her mind I’m sure she sees herself as a rare orchid or friendly and warm gerber daisy, in reality she’s much more like a prickly pear cactus.
I have no clue her mix, she’s the first dog to truly stump me. She has longish, scruffy hair and big warm eyes like an Ewok with the personality of a gremlin.
Paige gets scared really easily and so she’s more of a homebody. Also, while Paige may be able to fit under the seat in front of you, her emotional baggage could fill the cargo hold. Just your style right?!? I KNOW… IMAGINE THE LUCK!!
The holidays are coming up, and we would absolutely LOVE for her to find her ppl to celebrate the holidays with! If you love your family and want Paige to meet them, great she would love that, as long as they understand her comfort level. Yet, if you don’t like your family and want Paige to meet them, EVEN BETTER!!
Paige is sensitive to people petting her sides, it’s not because she’s in pain, it’s just because it makes her increasingly nervous as she can’t really see what you’re doing with her loaf shaped body. She is a bit of a conundrum as while she’s not comfortable with getting her sides let, she also gets super excited to be petted and it usually ends up doing her version of zoomies as a result.
Paige has absolutely come into her voice, her inner gumption and she absolutely doesn’t lack the self esteem to express herself to the other dogs. Sometimes she gets a lil too big for her britches acting like she’s some trained attack dog, don’t worry, she quickly backs down and stops when instructed. While she may be a little misfit, she is so freaking adorable and truly does have a hilarious personality.
Paige lives with several other dogs and is just fine. Paige doesn’t belong in a busy household. She needs a calm and patient home that accepts her for who she is while helping her to continue to blossom and reach her full potential.
HISTORYPaige was dumped at a very high kill shelter in CA. She was surrendered with a chihuahua mix but they were immediately separated and placed in completely different shelter locations. Paige spent her hold time shaking like a leaf below a blanket on a bed being completely overwhelmed and stressed by the constant loud and frantic barking, the smell of desperation and death in the air and the loss of her friend and everything familiar.
She of course was immediately red listed for euthanasia. You see the shelter didn’t find and feisty and traumatized muppet as being adoptable and as such she was just taking up space. We immediately tagged her, and her chihuahua friend. While they were delighted to see each other they wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with humans. Over the next little while their experienced foster worked to win their trust, with time and patience they came around. As they got more comfortable their personalities came out more and more. It ended up turning out that that the Chihuahua actually bullied Paige, (which now is hard to imagine).
I know this home may be difficult to find, but I also know her ppl are out there and I’m SO looking forward to meeting them!!
