Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from West Chester, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Max! Max is a 12-year-old, 15 lb., Westie/Poodle mix that was surrendered to a shelter by his owner. He had bad teeth, wasn’t neutered, and was absolutely terrified. We quickly brought him into rescue. Max received a dental and was fixed. He needed time to decompress and realize that no one was going to hurt him. With a lot of patience and love, Max started accepting head pets and treats. Max has good vision and hearing. He is fully potty trained and will give a bark when he needs to go out. Max can be a bit afraid of the dark so he prefers company when going potty at night. He may be 12, but he has the energy of a dog half his age. Max loves to run and would highly enjoy a fenced-in yard. He is not yet comfortable on a leash. Max can handle stairs and is pen trained. He happily sleeps in a fuzzy bed in his pen. Max can have some food and toy guarding behaviors so he needs to be the only pet in an adult-only home. He is a more independent dog and prefers to have a safe space of his own. As Max builds up trust with his forever family, and learns that life can be amazing, we have hopes that he will seek out more attention. Max is a dog who needs to let go of his past and have a wonderful new beginning. He loves crunchy toys, getting treats, and zooming around the yard. If you have patience and can welcome this special pup into your home, please apply today!

Story
Jax is a 3.5 year old, pure bred, healthy, 20 pound male Westie. He is friendly to all humans. He does have issues with our other pets which is why we need to rehome him. He occasionally fights with our male Shih Tzu and our daughter's male cat occasionally seeking to establish dominance. Apart from the occasional fights he is a very loving and affectionate dog. He is in very good health and loves to run around the yard, take walks, and play with his squeaking toys. He is a great lap dog and loves to take naps on the couch with his humans. He does not have any health issues and does not take any medications.
