Story
Elf is a 25-pound Mini Schnauzer mix, estimated to be around 1 year old. This sweet boy is full of charm and ready to find his forever home! The Highlights:• Great with adults, kids, and other dogs. He loves making new friends!• House-trained and crate-trained. Elf is a well-mannered pup who sleeps surrounded by his beloved soft toys.• Moderate energy level. He enjoys playing with other dogs and adores squeaky toys—he’ll keep you entertained for hours!• Smart and affectionate. Elf mastered the doggy door in no time and loves having his ears rubbed.A Few Notes:• He’s a bit scared in the car but is working on building his confidence.• He can be flighty if frightened, so a little extra care is needed in new environments.• While not tested with cats, he hasn’t shown any aggression and adapts well to his surroundings.Backstory:Elf was rescued just before Christmas, arriving at the shelter severely matted, underweight, and in need of care. After a fresh groom, he looks like a whole new dog! He’s blossomed into a friendly, affectionate pup who is eager to trust and bond with humans again.Whether you’re looking for a companion for your current pup or a playful only dog, Elf will make a wonderful addition to any loving home. Could he be your new best friend?IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.January 22, 2025, 3:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there! My name is Molly, and I'm an 8 1/2 pound Miniature Schnauzer with a heart full of love. I’m a total cuddle bug who loves nothing more than curling up on a pillow in your lap. Seriously, it’s my happy place! I’m not a fan of hardwood floors (they’re so slippery!), but I do great on carpets or rugs. My foster family has scattered rugs around the house so I can move around comfortably. Outside is another favorite spot of mine—I love the fresh air! Just a heads-up: I’m not a leash fan and can freeze up if you try to take me on walks. That’s why I’ll need a fenced yard where I can safely roam and explore. I’m working on potty training and will do my business outside when you tell me to "go potty." My people also have potty pads inside while I am learning. I’m also a little bit of a diva—I like my kennel door open so I can come and go as I please, but I usually choose your lap over anything else.   While I’m not super playful, I do enjoy squeaky toys now and then. I don’t need another dog in the house, as long as my humans are home most of the time to keep me company. I bark occasionally, but mostly when I see someone walking by my yard.   I’m a sweet, loving, and adaptable girl who’s looking for a forever home where I can be someone’s lap buddy and enjoy all the snuggles. Could that be with you?   *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I’m Mateo!  I’m a handsome scruffy little lady who is looking for a family of my very own.  I came here from a shelter in Arkansas where I found myself when my owner passed away.  I wasn’t there too long before I came to MN where I found myself in a foster home.  It took me a bit to open up to my new foster.  I was sad and confused since I had lost my home and owner.  I was lucky though that I got to come here with my brother, Dirk.  I don’t need to be adopted with him, but if you have room in your heart I’d certainly love to be adopted with him.  Bonus: I am crate, leash, AND potty trained! I don't need a fenced in yard, but sure would love it if you had it! When we meet I’m shy with new people and need a bit to warm up.  Once I trust you though then I’m a happy lady who likes to dance and give you my bestest smile!  My former owner taught me that when it’s time to be picked up you turn around and look over your shoulder so you can easily be picked up.  I can be playful with my brother, but I tend not to play with the other fosters here.  It’s not that I don’t like them, I just kinda do my own thing.  I don’t really care about toys, but I do enjoy food and treats.  I’d love a calm home with no kids where I can lounge around in peace and watch the world out the window and just lay by your feet.  I’m small and don’t take up much room other than a big space in your heart. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.
