Update: Obi is doing great in his foster home. He has 2 foster Weim sisters and 1 Weim foster brother. He gets along with all of them!!! Obi loves to chase squirrels and birds; he is obedient, sleeps through the night on he end of the bed and has never messed in the house. Most of the time, Obi just likes to hang out and look out the window, but he does love a good run when he goes to the farm. Wait until you see Obi!!! Obi is a very handsome, sweet 8 yr old boy that was surrendered to rescue because his family's work scheduled changed and they could not provide the time and attention that Obi needed. Obi is good with other dogs, preferably submissive other dogs, is housebroken and loooooooooooooves his people. He's even good with CATS!!!! Obi rides well in the car and lived with children. Obi does have separation anxiety so his new family will need to be home most of the time, have a fenced yard (must be at least 6'), and can provide lots of exercise and love.

Story
Update 2: From Cole's foster mom...Cole is super sweet and will be an amazing addition to any family. Definitely submissive with Duke (his foster Weim brother) and friendly our small dog Jaylo and not bothered at all by our cat. No food aggression. He has better manners than Duke. He loves his toys. Walks to heal and follows basic commands. Barely can think of any negatives. Cole had his first heartworm injection (12/23/24)and will remain in quiet time for 30 days when he will have 2 more injections (1/23/25), 24 hrs apart and 30 more days of quiet time. Update: We are so happy to let you all know that there are some amazing families among us and we are so grateful to have them on our team. Cole met his temporary foster mom yesterday (11-23-24) and he will meet another foster family next weekend. He will have a foster brother and sister. Thank you so much Jenna Sobh and the Peach family for stepping up for Cole. Cole will continue his heartworm treatment with the Peach family. Welcome Cole! Cole's story is like so many others...he was picked up as a stray and his owner was never found after exhaustive searching. The family that saved Cole from being hit by a car cared for him and he enjoyed hanging out with the other female Weim in the home. Cole was not fond of the Weim puppy. Cole is approx. 3-5 yrs old, neutered and has a docked tail. He is housebroken, knows "drop it", and walks okay on leash. His favorite thing is cuddling...he's a real pro!!! Unfortunately, Cole's previous family did not provide heartworm preventative and he will go through treatment prior to completion of adoption. AWCR pays for all medical.

FOSTER NEEDED FOR REX! Rex is a 5 year old blue, male weim with a natural tail who is looking for a foster or forever home! He's great with adults, older kids and medium and large breed dogs. He would also be great as an only "child" because he loves his people and would make a great companion or running partner! If you are interested in learning more about Rex and if you may be a match for a foster or forever home, please complete a foster or adoption app on our website at www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt.

Story
Beau is a gorgeous 7 year old, neutered male Weim who is a true Velcro shadow. He loves to be with his people and will follow you from room to room. He takes treats very gently and is very smart and alert. Beau loves everybody! Beau loves to run and play fetch in the yard and especially loves his walks! He will curl up next you on the couch, whether you like it or not! Beau needs a home without small children because he is nervous and not appreciative of the activity that surrounds young kids and can be reactive. We will not consider any home with children under the age of 12. He does great at doggy daycare and his nub of a tail sends him into "weim butt wiggles" when he sees other dogs! However, he can be a "resource guarder" in the home, so he'll be okay in a home with other dogs, as long as there are no toys to claim as his own - and we would suggest feeding in separate areas or in his crate. He has not been around cats, but would be very cautious since he was not socialized to cats at a younger age. In his original home, he did great in a kennel when his family was away from the house. He was a little restless at first , but calmed down quickly and waited patiently for his family to come home. However, he has not been crated for a while, so he will need to be reintroduced to the crate, however, he is fine left out when home alone. If you are interested in Beau or any of the weims in our program, please visit https://www.atlantalovesweims.org/the-adoption-process to complete an application. Please be patient as we thoughtfully review applications.

Story
FOSTER NEEDED FOR MEYER! We are working with the local Animal Services to bring Meyer into Rescue and we need a foster commitment! Meyer was surrendered with several other dogs that were on a rural farm property (1 Great Pyrenees, & 3 Heelers) where the owner has been unable to take proper care of the animals. As you can see, she's a chunky gal that needs someone to help her shed some pounds and bring back her girlish figure! She's a bit skittish and very scared at the shelter so they are allowing her to decompress in the office. Poor girl doesn't know what's going on... Meyer will need a quieter home so that she can ease into the family life! If you are interested in helping Meyer, please contact us at rescue@atlantalovesweims.org.

Story
Hercules lived the first of his life tethered to a chain on a tree. A Good Samaritan saw him posted online “ free to a good home “. Clearly the “ home “ he was currently at wasn’t that. He is between 1-2 years old. Dog and kid friendly, UTD on vax and prevention, heartworm negative and will Be neutered prior to going to his forever home. He is not house trained but this is to be expected living on a chain your whole life. He will need a patient forever home at first, but has so much love to give.

Story
Ahoy there me mateys. Sea Biscuit (aka Steve) is looking for a new first mate. He’s been shipwrecked for a while and would love to sail on to his final port (a good home.)   Sea Biscuit has more than a little in common with a certain Captain Jack Sparrow. Both are devilishly handsome, both a bit impish and both have hearts of gold.   Sea Biscuit is an energetic 3yr old weighing about 60 lbs. He’s currently living in a home with several dogs and gets along best with dogs that match his energy (medium-high) because he is very playful. His foster home has cats as well and they may find him a little annoying because he wants to play with them all the time and they just tolerate his silliness.  SeaBiscuit enjoys car rides, sleeping in his person’s bed and is a health nut known to enjoy cucumbers and carrots as a snack.   His foster describes him as a bouncy kangaroo who’s cuddly, energetic and would do well in an active home that provides him with lots of exercise (any runners out there?) and structure.   SeaBiscuit needs to sail away to a new foster or preferably an adopter and comes with an offer of a training  package so he can leave his pirate ways behind.       Check out my YouTube Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cv12D8OLm5s https://youtu.be/k2iwT3VPRjw Age: 2.9 years Weight: 62 lbs Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm  negative and on prevention Temperament: Good with other dogs.  Good with older, respectful kids.   Training, House trained, crate trained, knows several commands  Email for questions: sonaligokhale@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. January 8, 2025, 9:20 am

Story
I’ve had Simba since he was a puppy however I no longer have the space for him or enough time to give him the attention he needs. He’s a very sweet dog but needs more attention and more exercise than I can give him. He is 7 years old, very energetic and playful but still loves to lay on feet and take a nap. Would like to get him into a home with a yard as he will need a lot of exercise. He grew up around children ages 4-10 so he’s pretty used to being around kids and I have never had an incident. He is a big dog and can get very excited, he also barks if he needs something or wants to sleep by you. He is the perfect dog for someone who is able to give him tons of attention and time!
