Story
Meet Peanut, a one-year-old Weimaraner mix lovingly nicknamed Little Boy, who has a quiet charm and a personality all his own. Peanut is a handsome chocolate brown boy with soft floppy ears and stunning amber eyes that seem to say exactly what he’s thinking. He’s both dog- and people-friendly, but if he had to choose, he’d pick a human cuddle buddy every time. Couch naps are serious business for Peanut. If you’re sitting anywhere other than the couch, he’ll look at you with the saddest eyes and make little noises until you join him, at which point he’ll hop up, press against you, and settle in for a perfectly content snooze. Peanut is house trained and crate trained, and when left alone for four to eight hours he relaxes comfortably in his crate. He does well with other dogs in the 30–70 pound range, though he prefers to play rough right from the start and not all dogs appreciate his enthusiastic style. He can also be a bit grumbly if another dog disturbs his nap, but he has never snapped or shown aggression. He’s good with older children, especially tweens and teens, but younger kids or runners can excite him and cause him to jump, so supervision and structure are important. This sweet boy has a sensitive stomach and does best on low-ingredient food, treats, and chews. He enjoys walks and gets very excited to be out and about, though he does pull and does best wearing a harness. At parks, a shorter leash is recommended since he may jump toward runners or kids playing ball. Peanut enjoys car rides too and will serenade you with little noises until he eventually settles in. Being on the smaller side, he does need a boost getting into the car. Peanut loves toys he can pounce on, especially squeaky toys and balls, though squeakies without stuffing are best since he tends to eat the floof. He also enjoys chews and a good game of tug-of-war. He’s perfectly happy playing on his own, but he also enjoys interactive play and will happily chase another dog along a fence line. In the evenings, he’s an old soul and usually puts himself to bed by 9 p.m. He knows commands like “get in your box” and “no,” and he’s currently working on sit and shake. Peanut is a true character with endlessly endearing habits. He sleeps belly-up, chases bubbles, butterflies, and even a laser pointer, and sometimes blows bubbles in his water bowl just for fun. He may not wag his tail often, but he shows love in subtle, meaningful ways through expressive looks, gentle sounds, and his insistence that you sit with him on the couch. Peanut would do well traveling on a multi-day transport to his new home, as he may vocalize at first but will settle with time. If Peanut could say one thing, it would be simple and heartfelt: sit with me on the couch so I can take a nap. He’s ready to find a home that appreciates his unique personality, gentle companionship, and quiet devotion. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. Meet dream girl Parker! Parker is a 5 year old, female, petite gal weighing only 43 lbs and she's good with cats! Parker is great with small children, riding in cars, baths & water and loves to play ball! She's definitely a dream girl! Everyone who meets her falls in love! She will be spayed and fully vaccinated this week - along with a nail trim, microchip, heartwork test, fecal... the works! She does have a cherry-eye that you can see in the pictures that will be addressed once she is in a foster home. AWCR pays for all medical needs prior to adoption and won't complete any adoption until the eye is addressed and she is medically cleared, as we do with all of our Weims. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Parker, please complete an application at : www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/adopt www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/foster If you have previously completed an application and all of the information remains the same, please email us at rescue@atlantalovesweims.org.

Story
Luke (“Cool hand Luke”) is a big blue, 8 yr old boy with a docked tail that was dropped off at the shelter because his owner had died. Here is the update from Luke’s foster family: He’s got a very calm, gentle and kind temperament, as sweet as can be! He’s a gentle guy, with a big voice – but he is very aware of his space and surroundings and knows how to reverse himself out of tight spaces. Luke is housetrained and behaves very well indoors. He’s definitely a Velcro dog and no matter where you are, he’ll be with you. It’s taken very little time for him to make our home his home and decide he’s going to let the neighbors know he lives here, when they walk past the house. He very much likes to share a couch (or a bed) with you, but a firm “no” and he’ll lay on his bed. Luke is not a deliberate counter surfer, but because he’s so tall, anything left close to an edge he’ll make a go at it. Luke enjoys his walks and hikes too – he’s a very well behaved fella and walks perfectly on lead and listens well. He sits and gives a paw for a treat and is super gentle with taking treats. Luke has had the occasional zoomie, but has avoided damaging anything plant or human wise! We don’t know about cats, but Luke is interested in squirrels, but not driven to chase them. He’s very friendly with other people and good with other dogs. He’s not afraid of noises like a vacuum cleaner or hair dryer, we don’t know about thunder as yet. If you’re looking for an amazing family dog, “Cool hand Luke” is your guy.

Story
Lucy! Welcome to the best rest of your life! Lucy was a new mom at only 14 months old in November and she's still trying to lose some of that "baby weight", but that doesn't mean she's not excited to start her new life! Lucy is now 1.5 years old and she's ready to find her new home! She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped - the works! Lucy came into rescue with her "baby daddy", Percy. They are NOT bonded, but she would do best in a home with another dog as a companion. She is hesitant in new situations and having a pal to show her the ropes is just what she needs to help build confidence and allow her to shine! She is good with other dogs and has been great around small children - though she is a big gal at 73 lbs, so she could easily knock over a small child when she jumps. She's not a fan of cats or farm animals. Unfortunately, at her young age, Lucy has tested positive for heartworms, which is heartbreaking for us to even thing about this at her young age. This means she will need to be treated prior to adoption. Lucy needs a foster home or foster-to-adopt home that will let her settle in and recover during her treatment. AWCR pays for all treatment and health related issues while in foster care. If you are interested in fostering or adopting sweet Lucy, please complete an application on our website: www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/Adopt www.AtlantaLovesWeims.org/Foster

Welcome, Percy the love bug! Percy (1.5 Yrs.) came into rescue with his "baby momma", Lucy. They are NOT bonded, but he would do best in a home with another dog as a companion, but we would consider an only dogs home. He loves attention from his humans and will cuddle all day with you! He is good with other dogs and has been great around small children - though he is a big guy at 83 lbs, so he could easily knock over a small child when he jumps. He's not a fan of cats or farm animals. Plus, he's crate trained! Percy needs a foster or foster-to-adopt home to get this show on the road and to his new life! Is that you? Story
Meet Toby! Toby is an approx. 8-year-old blue Weimaraner with a calm soul and a big, loving heart. He’s happiest stretched out on the floor, enjoying a good rest, soaking up snuggles, or taking his time sniffing and exploring the outdoors. He’s not in a rush—Toby appreciates life at an easy, laid-back pace. In his foster home, Toby gets along great with his foster sister Weim, shows no reaction to the outside cats, and is especially sweet and affectionate with the teenagers and his foster mom. He’s a loving, gentle presence and would thrive in a low-key home where he can enjoy companionship, cozy naps, and leisurely outdoor time. He is heartworm positive, and will be starting treatment soon. If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate companion to share your space, Toby might just be your perfect match. (note: Toby is currently in a temporary foster home while we look for a foster/adoptive home that will love him through treatment. AWCR pays for all medical needs.)
