Meet Confetti, the pointer mix! Confetti came into the Shelter as if she has never met a stranger – greeting client services staff members by jumping into their laps, sitting at their feet for attention and even offering some kisses! She has enjoyed getting her steps in with staff and volunteers through exploring on walks, play in the exercise yards and even playgroup with other dogs. If you are looking for an active canine with a social butterfly personality – Confetti may be your gal! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
WEIGHT: 51 lbs This is Norman. Paused very briefly for a photo next to his ball, but had to get going. That`s so Norman, he`s got places to be, balls to fetch, dogs to wrestle, people to greet. Ending up in a shelter after being found running errands on his own is really clogging up his schedule. Norman is seeking out a new family with which to collab in life`s adventures. This athletic 2-year-old Catahoula hound mix (guess) is about 50 pounds of lean muscle. He`s a strong boy who has a lot of go -- and he`s also goofy, loving, playful, and sweet. Norman has a bunch of dog buddies that he crashes around with during playgroup and a bunch of people buddies that he enjoys snuggling with. Norman has spent the last bit of time in a foster. They have reported that his leash walking is really improving and that he has joined their neighborhood pack walk with up to 5 other dogs. He has also made several dog friends in their community and has been enjoying going on playdates with them! Norman is house-trained and very well crate-trained. He`s also super snuggly, cuddly, and is know to try his hand at being a lap dog at night in front of the TV. Call the Adoptions Desk Wed-Sun from 11am-5pm for more information or to schedule a meet-and-greet.

Story
WEIGHT: 55lbs Meet Sprinkles— She has had a tough go of it lately. Sprinkles came to us from a partner shelter where she was dropped off at their front gate in a wire crate. It`s terrible, we know. But honestly, to meet her, you wouldn`t know it. She is so outgoing, spunky, and playful. She is friendly with all people and has a really beautiful and unique look. She`s had mixed reviews of other dogs, so a home with other animals might work providing it was a good match. She`s high energy and would make a great adventure buddy for an active couple or young family. It doesn`t look like she has much experience doing normal dog things, so potential adopters should be prepared to take on some basic positive reinforcement training. Sprinkles recently spent some time in a foster home. Here is what they had to say about her:`Sprinkles is the most loving, cuddly and up for anything dog you can meet. She loves people and walks! She is well behaved, but consider puppy age, she can be a bit mischievous (shoe stealing and counter inspecting especially). She is super smart and eager to learn/please (I taught her enchanté - hand down and she gives you a paw like a high five but then she gives your hand a kiss), very treat/food motivated. A little bit of separation anxiety but I think if she were in a place long enough, she`d be okay, when she knows she`s home. Does well on lead, pulls when she sees something she wants or something that scares her. She`s a little timid about random things, the donkey statue in my backyard freaked her out and a kayak in the Harbor scared her, but she is easily comforted and not aggressive at all. We spent a lot of time outside so I can`t say 100% that she`s potty trained but that would be a very easy training. She`s extremely cuddly and wants to be with you. You can tell she`s been through a lot, but she doesn`t show it at all. She`s still got that mischievous puppy nature about her, and she would definitely make a great adventure companion for someone.`If you’d like to meet her, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
