FOSTER NEEDED ASAP! Beau is a sweet, shy dog who was abandoned by his former owner. Someone placed his bed and an empty bowl under some bushes and left him all alone. Beau had been living there for several weeks, patiently waiting for his owner. A good Samaritan found Beau and is temporarily keeping him safe. She can only keep him another week. He is very sweet but shy. Beau isn't chipped, and after several weeks of searching, an owner could not be found. The good Samaritan asked every rescue in town if they could help Beau, but no one has foster space. We said we would help if a someone will foster Beau. He's well behaved but needs time to feel safe. Beau is a good natured, affectionate dog who loves to cuddle. He's about 55 lbs, so still a medium-sized dog. He seems to be about 2 yrs old and healthy. If we find a foster, we'll take him to our vet for a thorough exam. If you live in the Southern California area, please email contactus@dexterfoundation.com if you can help Beau. Please share his story. We only have a few days to find a foster or adopter. Please help us find a loving home for this very special boy. He is a young male dog who needs a quiet, gentle, and calm home as he is a bit shy and scared. He warms up to people slowly, but once he does, he bonds very deeply and loves to cuddle and get kisses. He is a dignified boy who is a bit of a couch potato and enjoys lounging around most of the day. Beau is good with smaller dogs, or non-aggressive big dogs. If you have a quiet home with a fenced yard and lots of love to give, please open your heart and home to this sweet boy. He's had a tough start to life and desperately needs a safe and comforting place to call his forever home.

Story
Beau is a sweet, shy dog who was abandoned by his former owner. Someone placed his bed and an empty bowl under some bushes and left him all alone. Neighbors said Beau had been living there for several weeks, patiently waiting for his owner to return, but they never came. A good Samaritan decided to take Beau in and get scanned for a chip. He didn't have a chip or a ID tag. They searched for an owner, even though it was clear he was abandoned. Beau is a well behaved, good natured, affectionate dog who loves to cuddle. He's a medium sized dog weighing about 55 lbs. He's about 2 yrs old and healthy. He was seen by the vet, and given a thorough exam. Beau gets along well with his foster dog siblings, and even children. He's a great dog that will be an easy addition to any home. Beau has the most amazing personality. He is very sweet and affectionate. Initially he was a little shy, but that's understandable given his situation. Now that he feels safe, a goofy, happy personality is emerging. Beau is smart, funny and sweet. He's house trained, rides well in the car and walks nicely on a leash. Beau is even great at bath time! Please help us find a loving home for this very special boy. He is warms up to new people with a little time, but once he does, he bonds very deeply and loves to cuddle and get kisses. Story
Sex: FemaleBreed: Weimaraner xEstimated Date of Birth : 10/05/2022Looking for the most enthusiastic hugger? Then you’ve got to meet Blanche! This sweet girl is a lover of life and she will absolutely give you all the hugs. She’s about as happy go lucky as you can get and her exterior is just as beautiful as her friendly temperament. She’s stunning and her friendliness isn’t just with the people in her life she loves other dogs too. Such a good dog deserved to have her chance and she’s getting that chance in our Pawsitive Change program. Blanche has joined the group at Tehachapi State prison and we know she’ll be the perfect bright spot everyone there needs. Even with her striking beauty and super social personality Blanche lingered in the shelter system. She spent over a month at our County Shelter where her family never claimed her and she had no adoption interest. Her future was looking pretty bleak. Yes great dogs can and do get euthanized for space and we couldn’t let that happen to sweet Blanche. We may never know why her family didn’t come for her but starting today her luck has changed!Blanche is enthusiastic about pretty much everything. We know she’s going to LOVE her time training in Pawsitive Change and she’s going to get all the obedience skills she never had. We’re hoping those skills get her noticed and in 3 months once she’s completed the program she’ll find her perfect home. You can apply now to give Blanche a family to come home to once she’s graduated! Story
Cheyenne is a 7 year old deaf Catahoula Leopard Hound mix. She came to us from a kill shelter in Alabama. She’s a beautiful girl who is a bit on the shy side, gentle, and she has lived with other dogs. Oh, and she’s a looker, too, with those bright blue eyes and merle coat. Cheyenne is a graduate of our Group Training Class, Basic Obedience. We wouldn't recommend that Cheyenne live with children, she prefers a quiet adult household. She would do best as an only dog. We're not sure about cats. To meet Cheyenne, please fill out an application for adoption:   http://www.deafdogrescueofamerica.org/adoption-application.html      Please note that we are unable to respond to inquiries, emails or phone calls. Our adoption process starts with completion/submission of an application for adoption. All applications are reviewed as quickly as we can, and our adoption process is not first come, first served. We select our adoptive homes according to what our dogs/puppies require. If you are selected as an appropriate match, you will be contacted to set an appointment to visit the Ranch and meet Cheyenne.  November 3, 2024, 12:20 am
