Story
8 year old Babi was able to be one of these lucky pups to go on a Dog Day Out recently, and her partner had great things to say about her. `Babi was really sweet as soon as I met her. She was really good on the leash and was almost always right by my side! She knew how to sit on command, and was friendly to a passing family and their dog. She`s also very smart! I got confused during our trail on our way back, and she noticed I wasn`t going the right way. She politely stopped, and guided me to the right direction! A genius!`Babi:- Is sweet- Was good with other dogs- Is housebroken- Loves treats- Was great on a leashBabi is waiting to meet her new owners, so we hope to see you soon. We are open M-F 8am-5pm (8am-7pm on Thursdays) and 10am-4pm on Saturdays. She is available for adoption (all fees are waived for any adoption now through September 30th), fostering, or to be a partner for the Dog Adventures Program. Learn more about ways to get involved with him by visiting our website: https://www.burlingtonnc.gov/GetInvolved. Story
Stella was adopted from an animal center when she was ~12 weeks old. She is now 7 years old. Her "birthday" is January 10, 2017. Stella has anxiety and needs an experienced owner with lots of time to spend with Stella. Strange noises and unfamiliar people are not her favorite. She does not like it when her person leaves the house without her. Stella would love a yard with a doggie door. She is great with most med/large dogs as long as they are friendly, share toys, and do not bark at her. Not good with small dogs that bark a lot. Stella thinks breakfast is the best meal of the day with dinner being a close second. She loves treats including peanut butter lick mats and empty yogurt containers. She does not guard food. Stella loves to go on walks as long as it's not too hot outside. She also loves to cuddle and will sit with you on the couch all day long. Stella is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go outside by pawing at the back door.

Story
Please email foster parent at andy_hanson95@hotmail.comHe’s such a goofy pup that loves to be loved and to go on walks. He’s totally content sitting next to you getting pets and will sometimes play (very derpy-ly) but is a little ADHD and loses interest from time to time. He does great playing tug-of-war with our dog and will play wrestle with her too. He is crate trained and often places himself in there to rest when the door is left open. When left unattended he stays in his crate without issue. Below is a little bit more about him:He gets along great with the dogs he has met.Good manners in the houseKnows basic commands (like sit, come, wait, and off, and we’re about 85% there with down). Will sit and wait during walks, but shortly after releasing him he’ll go back to pulling despite using treats to redirect.Working on leash manners, highly scent driven and wants to go 1000 mph, likely due to being a hound type dog.Vocal at animals during walks, will eventually calmVery treat motivated when indoorsNeeds a family that can continue with structured training so he can develop into the perfect boy that he is!

Story
Esme is a simple girl that came to our attention at Critter Cavalry Rescue as she struggled to find a place to raise her 7 puppies that she birthed.  The odds were stacked but she managed to bring 3 of the 7 puppies through to the place that they could be adopted during the coming weeks.  This girl is 2 years old, weighs 35 pounds and has a sleek, beautiful demeanor that speaks to everyone she meets with a kindness and courage.  Esme is learning how to enjoy the niceties of being an inside dog as she has raised her puppies.  She is housebroken, crate trained and is good with all the other dogs and cats at the foster home.  She is around young active children (boys) and she keeps her calm demeanor through all the activities of the children. She loves people so much and just to be with someone.  She is food motivated and very bright and can learn so much if you use the treat method to win her attention and desire to learn a trick or commands. She is a great medium energy girl that is ready to chase a toy or ball but has not gotten the memo on how to bring it back to the person who threw it. She is wonderful on a leash and has a slight playful side to her. This pretty girl is really not big at all and on the smaller side of a Lab and she demands little from life or her people.  We are wanting the sun, moon and stars for her future with a new family. Could you give that to her?  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested! PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 5, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 5/16/2021 Reason for being in rescue: Sally was found as a stray on the side of a highway by a former employee of our rescue. No one came forward for this beautiful girl. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Sally is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Sally has heartworms and was treated on 08/04/2021. The protocol we use is two-fold. We do a pre-treat people where the dog takes doxycycline (an antibiotic) for at least 30 days. During this time the dog is also on regular heartworm prevention. The drug doxycycline weakens the adult heartworms. We then used a drug called diroban (a generic immiticide) to kill the adult heartworms. The dogs are given 2 injections of diroban 24 hours apart. They are then under strict rest protocols for 5 weeks - mostly cage rest with limited leash walks each day.  Weight: 45 lbs Height: 20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but Sally would love one What kind of home would be best for me? Sally is a mature girl with some pep in her step. She needs to be the only dog in a home with a family that will take her for daily walks, but understands she is past her running and hiking days. Sally has had very little training. Leash walking is new to her. Her forever home needs experience with dogs to continue teaching Sally in a gentle way how to walk on a leash and live her best life.  What is my personality like? Sally is an interesting girl that somehow manages to warm your heart just by being with you. Although she is older she would still like to go on walks and explore new surroundings. She is quite the adventurer. She doesn’t like to have other dogs in her space and couldn’t do well with another dog in the home. Sally usually has a more clam demeanor and will work if it means treats! She does okay on leash but will pull sometimes (she is not leashed often). Sally was found as a stray by a former employee and brought to the rescue with no known background. However we have found Sally to be quite the joy to be around. Her caregivers have noted that she likes to play for just a little bit and then come back inside for her naps. She prefers lots of bedding and enjoys having the more comfortable things in life. Sally likes to sunbathe in the grass and she likes it even better when someone will just sit with her outside for a bit. She loves the outdoors. Sally would be good for a home that is seeking a calmer older dog but wants one that is still active enough to go on walks with them. Overall she is a very sweet dog just looking for here perfect forever home to come along! How do I act when I first meet new people? Other tips and tidbits: Sally is a senior girl. We celebrate her birthday as 5/16/2011 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm
