Story
Meet Cledus! Age: senior Weight: 55 pounds, but I'm working on gaining weight in a healthy manner House trained: yes- but will benefit from a belly band in the first couple days in a new environment. Crate trained: yes- I happily go in my crate with just a few snack-o's Good with: Dogs of all sizes (I basically ignore small dogs and will play with other large dogs), cats unknown, older kids who can help me become my best self! Requirements: at least a 5ft fenced-in yard. I'm a hound dog and like to sniff and follow my nose, so having a secured yard will keep me safe! I love being outside, and since I was a stray for a period of time, that's where I feel comfortable. I come to you from the south, and many times, dogs like me live outside all the time, so it's no wonder I like being out there. My first experience as a family dog was likely when I got rescued! Can you believe it? A handsome guy like me, not a family dog! Well, it's all changed and I'm learning what inside life is like! Just the other day I got up on the bed to sit with the other dogs for the first time. I think the smells in the kitchen are glorious, and sometimes I just want to see where the smell is coming from so I put my paws on the counter. I am learning that's not a wanted behavior when foster mom tells me I have to get down, and then she put a gate up in the doorway so I can't get in the kitchen. Speaking of food, I eat by myself if other dogs are around or I try to steal food from them, and remember, I have to gain weight, but in a healthy way. And respectfully. But I'm never mean when it comes to food. I also recently learned what toys are! Man, they're FUN! I even play with them all by myself. I really enjoy head rubs and will paw at you to keep petting me until I'm satisfied. I never knew affection from humans could be so great! Now I'm looking for my forever humans that will show me love for the rest of my days. I hope you are the lucky one to bring me into your family! *Cledus is being fostered in Madison, WI. Story
Meet Rusty! Age: Senior Weight: 40 lbs Breed: Beagle mix Good with: dogs and kids (also goats and chickens!) House trained: Yes Rusty is a happy, friendly pup who is looking for a forever home where he can be loved and where there’s yummy smells (typical Beagle 🙂 ). Rusty loves meeting new people and is dog and kid friendly, this silly boy is up for anything! He enjoys tagging along on car rides, spending lots of time napping in a cozy spot and following his nose! He is a sweet, tolerant pup who is just happy to be near his people Rusty enjoys going on walks, but would also benefit from a yard if you have one. Any opportunity to go on a sniffari is time well spent, according to Rusty. As a senior dog, Rusty isn’t immune to some age related concerns. He previously had a mass removed from his abdomen before he was an ADL dog and while it doesn’t cause him discomfort, it’s something to monitor in the future. This does not slow him down one bit and he’s still happy to be your travel buddy! Rusty is a well mannered pup who is incredibly food motivated. He’s happy to show off some commands and would appreciate any treats that come his way. He’s the perfect mix of eager side kick and happy lounger. He is a laid back pup who enjoys the simple things in life and is hoping to be a cherished family member (and taste tester), does this sound like a good fit for you?
