Story
ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND. Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who came to us last fall when we was not longer wanted to hunting. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. His foster mom has worked diligently the last several months to house train Harry. He's also battled glaucoma and will need ongoing medical care. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude. (We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.) Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) (Harry Neil's Adoption fee is WAIVED!) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Felix the Walker hound is a good-times boy, looking for a family to call his own. Felix spent almost 2 years in the shelter before going to Camp Merricks to foster. At Camp he meets lots of dogs of all types and sizes. He loves to play and is good with both large and small dogs. When introduced to cats at the shelter he avoided them.He enjoys his soft bed in his crate and loves to put his head on his foster mom's shoulder and snuggle. He is affectionate and doesn't know a stranger.Felix is middle aged but still has a lot of energy to go hiking or camping. He has a typical ground voice, but has learned to stop when told to do so. Felix is as handsome as dogs get and can't wait to meet you. To meet Felix contact Camp Merricks at info@campmerricks.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.    December 19, 2024, 5:57 am

Story
Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Please help Watson, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Rides is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Watson to his new home. This is included in the adoption fee.

Story
Spaghetti is nothing short of amazing. She has been 100% house trained, well-mannered and so sweet. Her little tail will get to wagging as soon as she knows she's getting some love, and you can see her eyes light up when she gets snuggles! She gets along well with some other dogs but would prefer a calm household free of small children. Loud noises and fast movements can be scary for her. If you're looking for a calm companion come meet Loo Loo today!

Story
TIME SENSITIVE! SPECIAL NEEDS! Trisha needs a home SOON! Remember Trisha? She came to us from a shelter a couple months ago. She was hit by a car about 6 months before being taken to the shelter but her owner didn't take her to the vet. We quickly learned that she is incontinent because the end of her spinal cord is severed. Trisha is happy, and playful and loves attention. She is not good with cats or any dog who seems dominant at all and may be most successful as an only pet. She loves people and would most likely be just fine with kids! Trisha would be happy and manageable in a home with a fenced yard for her to spend the day in. She could wear a diaper to come inside for family time and sleep in a crate at night. She will be more prone to urinary tract infections and will need regular medical care. We love Trisha and hope we can find someone else who will adore her and be able to manage her needs. Trisha has been spayed and vaccinated and we are happy to waive her adoption fee. Trisha is about 4 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. Apply NOW at www.augustadogadoptions.org. Trisha is located near Staunton,Va.
