Story
I got Pico unexpectedly in a Wendy’s parking lot one day. He was 7 weeks old, slightly malnourished with wounds and scars from being house with bigger more aggressive dogs. Since then he has grown into a sweet ball of energy that could play for hours. He loves other dogs, loves children, and loves being outside 1000% of the time. He's an amazing smeller, anything you might try to hide he will find. The reason I would like to rehome him is because I’m military and my schedule is becoming a little more demanding for work, and less time for him. Pico loves attention, and when he’s ready to relax, he loves to cuddle up right next to you, and I would love for him to go to someone/s who have more time and can cater more to his needs of a presence than I’m able to provide

Story
Our bouncy Ben was picked up by a local animal control.  He was very thin, heart worm positive, and had intestinal parasites.  All of that is behind him now as he has completed treatment for all and is ready to find his forever home.  We really should have named him Tigger as he bounces every where he goes.  He loves to play and also can be a snuggler when he has gotten his energy out.  We don't know how he is with cats as he hasn't been around them.  Ben knows sit and down and is eager to learn more.  He would like a family who will continue with training, and include him in their adventures, keeping in mind that he is a hound and must always be leashed when out because he likes to follow his nose.  He would be a great walking, running, hiking buddy.  If you are that special family who would love  this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Animal Rescue at rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or 757-472-1583November 3, 2024, 9:38 am

Story
Clarence is so sweet.Sweet to every person he meets -- he's an instant best friend for gentle snuggles and adoring looks!Sweet to every dog he sees -- even if they bark at him because he's wearing a puffy blue coat that probably looks a little suspicious to them. Why the puffy coat?Clarence is so skinny. This 7-year-old hound was found as a stray. Wherever he was before Animal Aid Society got him, it wasn't good.Yet, despite how hungry he is, and how much he LOVES his food (a lot -- he loves it a lot), he still loves people more!Clarence gently takes treats, and will stop eating his meal to look up and make sure we haven't left. It's heartbreaking to see a dog so malnourished, but even more heartbreaking when we consider how starved for attention this social, affectionate guy must have been. Clarence is a calm, polite, gentle presence -- a loyal, happy companion. He's heartworm-positive, but Animal Aid pays for his treatment, even after you bring him home.If you follow us on FB, you'll see we've sent SO MANY heartworm-positive dogs home -- and all of them are currently healthy, thriving family members. Pippa, Tony, Diamond, Huckleberry, Wendy, Iris, Betty White, Muffin... the list goes on and on!Let's add sweet Clarence to the list of pups who are home, living the dream!Stop by for gentle snuggles any day between 9am and noon (including weekends & holidays).Animal Aid Society is at 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Meet Walker! He came into the 4 PAWS family in May 2020; emaciated, heartworm positive and had several wounds. Walker has made a complete transformation! He is a sweet 7-year-old, 74lb silly boy who is good with kids and other dogs but hasn’t been cat tested. Walker was treated for heartworm and has tested negative. This breed mix can be high energy and very smart which means he will require exercise (mentally and physically). He will also need a 6ft fence with plenty of area to run. His new family needs to be committed to daily exercise, continued training, and socialization. If you are interested in adoption; DO NOT CALL, please complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We verify the care of past/current pets. Our goal is to have the very best home for all our dogs and cats, and therefore, we reserve the right to approve or deny an application based on what we determine is in the pet's best interest. #lovedogsforever #mixedbreed #walkerhound #rescuedisthebestbreed #dogs #dogsareacommittment #rescuedog #lovedogs #adopt #adoptdontshop His rescue journey video: https://youtu.be/kYnnAodx1lo

Story
MAXIMUS - 6 years old, 30 pounds, nervous, good with cats and dogs, house trained. Needs a single family hone (no shared walls). Adult home needed. Our foster, Max, has been enjoying this beautiful, but windy, day with a walk in the neighborhood, exploring the backyard, and running errands with me. I want to share the following about Max (Maximus), who has been with us for four weeks:  He is a sweet boy, who gets along with other dogs, and seems to be cat-friendly (we have several neighbors with indoor-outdoor cats, and he wants to say hello but does not bark, pull, lunge, or chase).  He is housebroken.   He does suffer from separation anxiety, and stays stressed/anxious/pacing/frequently checking and waiting at the door while his people are away.  However, he is not destructive, and he does not act out by using the bathroom in the house.  Yet, on Thursday and Friday, he was a bit less stressed, and started playing with the many dog toys available (so far, he just plays with them (he loves the hide and seek toys), and does not de-squeak them), and, over the last week or so, he has been settling down for periods of 45-60 minutes (not sleeping, but staying near/semi-relaxing with his beagle friend, Ruthie).  [If people are home, he will relax and nap, but he is always on guard that they will leave.] We have started him on anxiety medication that he takes daily. He does well with Ruthie, and would probably like to have a canine sibling, especially when left alone (he really needs a home where someone works from home, or is a young, retired home-body, and, with his fear of noises, I would recommend a home without young children who are, as children do, going to screech, run up to him to hug him or pull his ears).   He does react to loud and/or unexpected noises (he still reacts to my phone dinging, the wake up alarm going off, and the frig. door dinging when I have it open for too long), and people passing by my house.  When this happens when I am home, he settles quickly and isn't very noisy (just stressed until I tell him it's okay), but he can be loud when reacting to things outside (especially yard work). He is smart, and has started to figure out how to unlatch the gates in the house (used primarily to keep him from bolting out a door/getting under foot when we are leaving, and to separate the pups when they are enjoying pup cups, treat-filled kongs, and licki-mats.   He likes to go for walks (he does generally well as the only dog on a walk, but he is still trying to figure out pack walks); he loves car rides; like his beagle friends, he likes veggies as snacks; and he loves treat-dispensing toys, and licki-mats with peanut butter or pumpkin.  He is an all-American mutt, and his DNA results identified 15 different breeds:  Norwegian Elkhound (30%), Chi. (17%), Labrador Retriever (15%), Rat Terrier (10%), Treeing Walker Coonhound (4%), American Hairless Terrier (3%), Toy Fox Terrier (3%), Flat-Coated Retriever (3%), Plott Hound (3%), American Foxhound (2%), Miniature American Shepherd (2%), Dandie Dinmont Terrier (2%), Parson Russell Terrier (2%), MinPin (2%), and Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (2%). Story
Meet Noel! Noel is here looking for her forever home! Noel is such a sweet girl who will soak up all the attention she can get. Noel does need to be introduced to any canines currently residing in the home to ensure they are a perfect match! As well as required no shared walls since she does have some vocal tendencies your neighbors would not appreciate. Noel does still need to be seen by our vet staff so there may be a potential for some skin issues as you may see, to keep in mind! If you have any further questions, please see a kennel technician today!
