Story
Meet Jody, a resilient and loving 8-year-old Treeing Walker Hound mix who is ready to start the next chapter of his life. Despite a rough past, Jody's heart still remains full of love. Before coming to us, Jody endured abuse and even suffered burns on his snout from the hands of his owner. But this brave boy's spirit is unbroken, and his scars have healed beautifully, giving him a truly one-of-a-kind face to match his soul. Jody is the definition of sweetness- he gets along wonderfully with all animals and people, winning over everyone he meets with his gentle nature. While he was likely kept fully outdoors in his past life, since being with us, Jody has loved being an indoor doggy. Jody is ready to retire from being the "old running" hound to a couch potato. Jody is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, meaning he is ready to join your family now! Apply for Jody at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog

He will happily play outside or with his canine foster siblings then curl up with his foster mom to nap.  She tells us if you rub behind his ears, you’ll be sure to put Splash to sleep. Splash is highly food motivated and uses his sense of smell to his advantage. He will do anything for peanut butter. Splash knows how to sit and is crate trained. He will fuss at first but quickly calms down.  Splash is good with children. His foster home does have a cat and he sometimes needs reminders to be gentle.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 11:33 am

Story
Meet Rudolph, He was days away from being put to sleep at a high kill shelter in North Carolina! This handsome guy was discarded as a hunting dog and left for animal control to pick him up running loose, without a place to call home. When no one came forward Rudolph quickly found himself on the urgent list. To make matters worse, Rudolph was heartworm positive. Thanks to a very dedicated foster family, Rudy's life was spared. They agreed to take him in until he found a good home. His heartworms have been treated and he is well on his way to recovery! While in foster care, the family discovered he is a very sweet boy and enjoys laying around in his dog bed. He also enjoys the great outdoors, so a fenced in backyard would be ideal for him to safely enjoy some fresh air! We recommend Rudolph go to a home without other dogs or dog's that are dominant like him. He is NOT aggressive with other dogs; he just likes to be the boss. He will need an understanding family that can work with him! We don't think this hound dog should go to a home with cats. If you are interested in this beautiful boy, please submit an application to be contacted! His foster home is currently located in North Carolina, but arrangements will be made for an approved adopter. APPLY HERE: https://form.jotform.com/230176841172150

Story
We adopted Solo when he was a year old from our local SPCA. He is now seven years old. When we first adopted him he showed signs of abuse and was food aggressive and a protective of his toys and personal space (I.e. beds, crate, etc.). We worked with him a lot and aside from the occasional regression his behaviors had significantly subsided. We now have an almost two year with another child on the way and his aggressive/protective behaviors have gotten worse again since having the first child. He has lightly bitten her twice (hard enough to break skin but not hard enough to need stitches or medical attention). He has been around other dogs and we have three cats and he does not have issues with other animals. With both my wife and working full time jobs and other child on the way we just don’t have the time or energy to address these behavior issues unfortunately. Adoption fee is just to cover the listing fee.

Story
FOSTER-TO-ADOPT.  This adorable, cuddly pup is just the sweetest.  Playful and happy Ken is looking for his forever home.  Treeing Walker Coonhounds are stunning when mature.  It is expected that he will be at least 50 lbs when full grown so please be mindful of any weight/pet restrictions if you are renting.  Ken needs a family who will give him the physical and mental exercise needed for hound breeds.  A home with a yard or nice walking trails will be wonderful for this precious boy. ##2178443##

Story
Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Please help Watson, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Rides is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Watson to his new home. This is included in the adoption fee.

Story
Wren is a beautiful 4 year old, female Hound who captured our hearts the moment she stepped paw into our shelter. This shy girl is a stray who had wandered on to a property along with Fern, starving and looking for food. Wren may be shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she'll be your faithful companion. She adores the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friendly pup to be her friend and show her the ropes. She's a happy dog who just needs a patient and understanding home to help her come out of her shell. We believe that with a little love and care, Wren will blossom into the perfect companion. Wren has been spayed, vaccinated, tested, given dewormer, microchipped and started on flea/tick prevention, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE) and given heartworm prevention.
