Meet Rudolph, He was days away from being put to sleep at a high kill shelter in North Carolina! This handsome guy was discarded as a hunting dog and left for animal control to pick him up running loose, without a place to call home. When no one came forward Rudolph quickly found himself on the urgent list. To make matters worse, Rudolph was heartworm positive. Thanks to a very dedicated foster family, Rudy's life was spared. They agreed to take him in until he found a good home. His heartworms have been treated and he is well on his way to recovery! While in foster care, the family discovered he is a very sweet boy and enjoys laying around in his dog bed. He also enjoys the great outdoors, so a fenced in backyard would be ideal for him to safely enjoy some fresh air! We recommend Rudolph go to a home without other dogs or dog's that are dominant like him. He is NOT aggressive with other dogs; he just likes to be the boss. He will need an understanding family that can work with him! We don't think this hound dog should go to a home with cats. We adopted Solo when he was a year old from our local SPCA. He is now seven years old. When we first adopted him he showed signs of abuse and was food aggressive and a protective of his toys and personal space (I.e. beds, crate, etc.). We worked with him a lot and aside from the occasional regression his behaviors had significantly subsided. We now have an almost two year with another child on the way and his aggressive/protective behaviors have gotten worse again since having the first child. He has lightly bitten her twice (hard enough to break skin but not hard enough to need stitches or medical attention). He has been around other dogs and we have three cats and he does not have issues with other animals. With both my wife and working full time jobs and other child on the way we just don’t have the time or energy to address these behavior issues unfortunately. Adoption fee is just to cover the listing fee.

He is very playful and loves to run around with his canine foster siblings in the fenced in yard. He is gentle with children of all ages and doesn't seem to mind cats either. Splash is house, crate and potty trained, great in the car, loves couch cuddles or just follow you around in the house. He is overall a well rounded dude and such a joy to have around.Splash is a bit scared of new things and noises so he will need more socialization in public. He walks very well on the leash and loves to go to places otherwise.His dad's DNA of a Treeing Walking Coonhound definitely shines through although his mom was 100% Pit Bull. He has inherited the best of both breeds. Did I say that he has the softest fur ever?Whoever ends up adopting Splash will be one lucky family.UPDATE 9/21/24:Splash was returned to our rescue to no fault of his own. He is house and crate trained, fantastic in the car and gets along well with other dogs.More information will be available as he settles into his foster home.Splash is a puppy with the best “pet me puppy dog eyes”. KG is a wonderful dog. He's healthy and in good shape physically. He's 10 years old and weighs about 68 pounds. He's highly adaptable to any good home. He really likes a good trail walk or hike. He can also be a good couch potato too. He likes rubs and responds well to affection. His temperment is usually calm, although he will bark that classic hound bark, at a good mail or fedex truck that invades his territory. He was adopted from the humane society in Fredericksburg. His temperment is mostly calm, he's will sniff, but doesn't bite. As stated above he's a great dog. Who ever gets him will be happy with him for sure.
