Bailey is true to her breed. She is a five month old tri-colored 32 pound tree walker coonhound that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/19. Information on her breed says that these dogs love people, are confident, eager to learn, and love to please but can sometimes be stubborn. I’ve seen all of these things in her except stubbornness. I have just seen fun loving playfulness! Bailey is a delightful girl that is spunky, friendly , gregarious, and happily gallops around the yard. She did keep her nose close to the ground typical of a hound dog. She was whining some of the time. I’m assuming it was because she was missing her owners. She did a little dance when I asked her to sit. At one time she did sit, but I’m not so sure that wasn’t just a coincidence. She is highly motivated by treats so she should be easy to train. She did her business in the yard. She walked well on a leash. And she didn’t have any problem meeting other dogs. In other words, she’s got a lot going for her and would make a great family dog. She wants to be an inside dog and spend most of her time with her family watching TV, playing, or cuddling .

! Willie is a retired coon dog. He retired over two years ago when he ran off on the job and came to us instead. His owner was located but failed to return calls to claim him, so here he sits, waiting to meet you instead!!! He is pretty chill and quite the love. The lady dogs love Willie! He is kid friendly, but older and/or understanding kids would probably be best because this sweet old man prefers naps over fetch in the yard. He has not been tested with cats, but given his background of chasing small animals, we can say it would probably be best if he had a home with no cats. Willie is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and current on prevention. **Seniors interested in adopting seniors** We know money can be tight so please contact us about special adoption rates.
