We are thrilled to introduce you to two incredibly special girls, Star and Sophia, who are ready to find their forever home! These beautiful Coonhounds came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation, where they lived with 71 other sweet souls. Star and Sophia have emerged from their past stronger than ever! Both have received complete veterinary care, are microchipped, and are heartworm negative and on preventatives. While Sophia has been spayed, Star is scheduled for her surgery soon. Star weighs 56lbs and is estimated to be about 5 y/o Sophia weighs 67lbs and is estimated to be about 2 y/o These girls are not just survivors; they are lovely companions who are blooming beautifully! They thrive in the company of other animals, whether it's a playful pup or a curious cat. Plus, they're doing fantastic with their housetraining—no accidents to report! They've also shown how gentle and kind they are around babies and children. Despite their hound lineage, which often comes with barks and howls, these girls are surprisingly quiet. While Sophia may express herself with a little whine as she adjusts to her new surroundings, it’s merely a sign of her being a little unsure—definitely not disruptive! Star and Sophia have faced so much change already, and now they deserve a forever home where they can finally plant their roots and feel secure. If you are looking to open your heart and home to these sweet, loving girls, please don't hesitate to reach out. They are not bonded and they do not have to be adopted together. But Sophia would definitely benefit from having another dog around to play with.

Story
Clementine is a sweet and beautiful Treeing Walker Coonhound female who is about 3-4 years old and weighs about 62 pounds. She's housetrained (with supervision), spayed, microchipped and current on vaccines and preventatives. She seems to have spent most of her adult life so far producing puppies for or because of negligent, uncaring owners. Clementine was a truly great mom, but now it's her time to be the star! She probably didn't get much attention from people before she came into foster care. She's calm and gentle, but she's also starting to relax and reveal her playful and curious side. Clementine would enjoy a friendly companion dog to help her adjust to household routines and be a playmate.Clementine is very good on a leash and loves going for walks! She's also good in the car. For a hound, she has not been especially focused on following her nose and she doesn't bark or howl a lot, but she has been able to scale a 5 ft. wire fence when not supervised. A solid wood privacy fence, and/or other means of safe containment will be needed. She doesn't mind spending some time in a kennel, so that's an option for times you can't watch her as long as there is protection from weather and cold. She does well in a large crate with a nice bed and a treat for the night! We'd recommend a home with no children or older children simply because she's a big girl and she is still a little nervous when things get noisy. If you are interested in giving "Darling Clementine" her best life, please contact her foster home by email at blairhsow@gmail.com if you have any questions. If you'd like to meet and possibly adopt Clementine, please fully complete and submit this application: https://www.humanesocietyofwilkes.org/adopt/application. To ensure your application was received, please email the foster home.

Story
From his Foster Family: Toulouse is doing great! After about a day or two, he warmed up and started getting more comfortable as noted by barking at us when entering a room - ha! He LOVES our other dog and is his literal shadow. If dodger stretches, Toulouse stretches. If dodger scratches, Toulouse scratches... you get the jist! I think a home with another dog to help show him the ropes is a necessity!!! He still seems to be very hesitant with us, as people. He will take treats out of our hands and has started to reduce the running away from us when we need to pick him up, but he still doesn't willingly let us touch him or pet him with ease. He will lay against our legs if they're under a cover which makes me think he has no idea that it's actually our legs under there lol! No issues with the leash! I think he doesn't like it because he doesn't want to be close to people but, we've practiced walking on the leash on the enclosed patio and he eventually gives in and doesn't immediately try to run away. Still working on potty training. He loves to go outside and potty (and follows dodger every time he goes) but, the boy also loves to mark everything so likes to tinkle inside to mark his territory. No food aggression at all! He and dodger eat out of the same bowl and it's all good! No issues with the cats. He understands it's their space and hasn't paid them a lick of attention! Small, but steady, progress for sure! He is such a sweet boy and I think once comfortable, will be so loyal to his people!!!

Story
Prudence is a beagle mix and about 2 or 3 years old. We adopted her from Forsyth County Animal Shelter of June 2023. She’s a very sweet and smart girl with lots of energy and potential, loves to cuddle and play, up to date on her vaccines, spayed and potty trained. She is reactive and resource guards from other animals. We were unable to crate train her but our trainer believes she has a phobia of being locked in, but does fine outside of it and isn’t very destructive. She has a lot of energy and high prey drive so she requires both physical and mental stimulation. She LOVES to sniff around and loves games where she has to use her nose. Very food motivated! She needs help building her confidence but knows how to sit, wait, lay down, and shake. Active owner who has experience with high energy/reactive/working dogs is a must and lives in a relatively quiet area. No fee, we just want her to go to a good home.

Story
Tybee is a 4-year-old beagle that enjoys lounging around on the couch but is also playful enough to play tug-of-war and fetch. He is a very vocal dog and likes being outdoors and running in wide open spaces, so a fenced in backyard or farmland would be necessary. Tybee would do really well as a single companion pet, but he is also accustomed to being around other animals, such as cats, other dogs, bunnies, and guinea pigs. He is kid friendly, although he does appreciate his own space at times. Please do your research on beagle's beforehand if you are interested.
