Story
Juniper is a sweet playful girl. She could spend hours running around and sniffing everything and anything, so a fenced in yard would be best for this large gal. You'll find that this spunky pup loves treats and is sure to tell you all about it in true hound fashion. With a high prey drive, cats in the home are a no go for this girl. Juniper has lived successfully with another dog in the past, so she may do well with another dog of similar size and energy as her in her new home as well. Teens + would be the best match for Juniper as she can be a little demanding and is a large gal. If you're looking for a true loyal companion who would be a fantastic hiking companion, Juniper is your girl!

Story
*Courtesy post* Our friends at Northeast Coonhound are asking for our help with these 2 girls! These two beautiful dogs have been wonderful companions but sadly the current owner cannot continue to provide the care they require due to housing insecurity. Fern (all black back) and Juniper (white t-bone on face) were rescued from the Rhode Island SPCA by their current owner one year apart, and are litter mates, who are approximately 4 years old. Current owner rescued Fern in 2020, and then rescued Juniper one year later when she was returned to the shelter. They could live separately, but do have an attachment to one another that helps with their separation anxiety. Fern acts in the alpha role and resource guards food, so toys with food are best given in separate crates or areas. Juniper is wonderful with children while Fern will get anxious around children and will bark if they interact with her. A household with no other pets or young children is needed. They have both had training through K9 Behavioral Services in Hope Valley RI. They will jump on counters, chew or rip up personal items, and generally won’t come unless a treat is offered. They require crates when left alone because they do experience separation anxiety and will bark. Music or radio or toys with food will help them stay calm in crates when left alone. This bonded pair enjoys time outdoors, and are trained to walk with front harnesses and gentle leaders. They have experienced all levels of exercise from free range roaming with a Garmin tracker system to two big walks on leash per day and ample puzzle games. They have treed a raccoon and other small animals before, and will chase deer. That being said, they are happy to have someone home with them all day and will sleep if comfortable at home. A household that could offer them lots of companionship during the day or a big backyard where they could play and do puzzle games would work, however, they could also be used in trials or pack hunts. They each have their own personalities, but are very typical Treeing Walker Coonhounds. They are alert and focused on prey, while also calming down if given a comfortable place to rest. These two beautiful pups are available for visits in Seekonk Massachusetts. Please contact Emily Leeser via phone, text or email (904)304-5839 or eleeser121@gmail.com

Story
6 Ft. FENCE REQUIRED Adoption Donation  $399    Located in RI Transportation costs to Northeast included. Approximately 2 years old as of 8/8/24 Weighs 24 pounds   Introducing Lexie! This hound mix is a wonderful bundle of fun energy! If you are looking for a dog to sit down with on the couch after work and relax this is NOT the dog for you! If you are looking for a hiking, running, walking partner Lexie wants to have you join her in investigating the world. Despite a lousy start in life, Lexie is an extremely loving and trusting girl. Lexie would love to have another young and/or active pup to enjoy life with. She is currently in a foster home with a few younger dogs and she wears them all out! No cats please. She is not a fan. She's actually afraid of them Lexie loves kids, but due to her great enthusiasm for them one would worry about small toddlers getting knocked over in her excitement. Lexie would be fantastic with kids over the age of six. Lexie is crate trained and once she goes in doesn’t make a peep. Potty training as long as she is on a consistent schedule is fantastic, but she does need a routine. She has conducted all of her business in the exact same spot in the yard each and every time she goes. Can we get a hallelujah?! She walks wonderfully on a leash. While a fenced in yard is not necessary required it certainly wouldn’t hurt. But due to her high prey drive when she is not fenced in, she must always be on a leash at all times. She would take off after a squirrel or bunny and I’m sure run after it for hours. Lexies loves playing and romping around with toys or socks, so we make sure she has lots of her own things to enjoy and try to keep what we don’t want her to have put away. Lexie is EXTREMELY smart and just as energetic. She can easily jump a 4 ft. fence, so a 6 ft. fence is required. We think she would not only benefit from training but will absolutely excel at it. Whether a family, couple or single person adopts this wonderful silly girl, one thing is for sure, that they will be extremely lucky!    If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  sarahscleansweep@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Story
Personality Plus describes this Treeing Walker Coonhound puppy. Chloe is an energetic puppy, about 4 months old. She loves to meet new people and and enjoys attention and petting. She thinks everyone she sees is there to meet HER! She can be demanding at times. Chloe is very smart and learns new routines and commands easily; she needs to learn manners around people. Unfortunately Chloe has already bounced around a few times in her young life. She'll need a hound-experienced owner who has time to meet her energy needs. A fenced yard and another dog to play with would e a plus. Her adopter should be able to offer routines and a structured environment that will provide Chloe with stability and security. She's adorable and has the potential to be a great hound companion. Chloe should have an adult size of 45 - 55 lbs. Available for visits in western Massachusetts.
