You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. Hi there! Im Dreamer, a 5-year-old Hound weighing in at 43 lbs. Im all up to date on my vaccinations, dewormed, and currently working through being heartworm positivebut that doesnt slow me down! My name fits me perfectly because Im a dreamer at heart, with so much love to give and a zest for life. Im as sweet as can be, loyal to those I love, and friendly with everyone I meet. My curiosity keeps me eager to learn new things, and Ive been known to make my humans laugh with my funny antics. I have plenty of energy, so if you love an active lifestyle, Im your perfect match! But dont worryIm also a big fan of snuggling up and enjoying some quiet, cuddly moments together. I dream of finding my forever home where I can share all the love in my heart. Story
If you are interested in adopting Dolly, please email dogs@lostdogrescue.org Dolly will be attending one of our adoption events coming up this weekend! To learn more about our upcoming events and to see which event they will be attending, please visit our event page at https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/ (*please note that the specific event pages are typically updated on Fridays with information on which dogs will be attending which events*) And the award for most sociable goes to... Dolly! Everyone Dolly meets is a friend, humans and dogs alike. She is incredibly sweet, sensitive, and loving. She is also true to her Treeing Walker Coonhound breed - independent, hilariously and lovably goofy, very high-energy, obsessed with all the smells, and extremely eager to tell everyone (again and again) when she's discovered something to hunt. Letting her nose lead the way, Dolly has a curious nature and a passion for exploration. When out on a walk, Dolly just wants to gain all the knowledge she can about the world around her (and sniff out every single critter). When indoors, she will regularly meander into rooms with food, wearing an expression that asks, "Excuse me, is there something that needs to be eaten in here?" This silly and affectionate ball of energy is eager to learn about manners, so consistency with positive reinforcement training - especially to manage her hunting instincts - will allow her kind-hearted personality to remain prevalent. (Tip: toys with animal hides are the best rewards for her!) When not in hunting mode, she can be great at several cues like sit, come, high-five, touch, down, and belly (play dead). She's had a rough early life and needs a forever home where she can have a lot of outdoor time and patient, caring humans with an active, outdoor-oriented lifestyle. Story
Willow is a sweet 2 year old hound mix that is reported to be very chill and loves a good movie. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Willow loves people, dogs, chew toys and looking out the window. She dislikes her crate, cats and being alone. When her foster Mom leaves, she just keeps her in one room instead of a crate and she is happy! Although she is learning to be confident, she still gets scared of things like thunder and other loud noises. Willow would love a fenced in yard. ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Review our adoption contract and application. 2. Call your vet and references to inform them that a rescue representative will be calling. 3. Story
Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Please help Watson, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Rides is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Watson to his new home. This is included in the adoption fee.
