Story
Buddy was a stray rescued from the side of the road. When I found him he was skin and bones. In the short time we’ve had him, he has come out of his shell into the most playful, cuddly, and loving boy. Sadly, we can’t keep him. He does not get along with other dogs living in the same home and has some resource guarding. We also believe he was abused before we found him and reacts with aggression out of fear (arm raising, loud noise etc.) We are looking for an experienced, patient, and loving home him for buddy, someone who will put in the work to train him so he can live his best possible life. He is heart worm positive and is currently taking medication. He will need three shots for his heart worm and cannot be neutered until he is cleared. We will pay for all of this to ensure he gets what he needs. We are hoping there is someone out there who can provide a wonderful life for this sweet boy.

She was one of 30 dogs and puppies living in a small home. Their owners reached out for help due to medical issues, and the local rural shelter was unable to provide them any assistance other than euthanasia due to overcrowding. We are grateful help was sought and we were able to do our part to keep these dogs safe! If you remember the Bluey litter of heeler/hound puppies we had available for adoption last summer, Dolly is their mama! She is now ready to find a forever home of her very own. This beautiful girl is quite the catch! She is great with other dogs but does not rely on them. Whether she is an only dog, has a bunch of doggy siblings, or simple socializes regularly in her forever family, she`ll be content. She`d prefer a home without cats. Dolly loves human interaction once she gets to know you. She can be a little shy at first but is quick to trust if given the chance. Dolly walks great on a leash, and she is house- and crate-trained. This girl has looks AND brains! She is super smart and treat motivated. Her ears are as soft as velvet - just like her personality! We absolutely adore this mama and cannot wait to find her the devoted forever family she so desperately deserves!All our dogs are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.Interested in adopting? Rocky is a 1 year old neutered male hound mix who weighs about 50 pounds. He was rescued as part of a cruelty case and we have promised to find him a home to call his own. Rocky is very easy going, walks great on a leash and loves belly rubs. He has tested well with other dogs, loves eating treats and has started to play with toys as well. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite!The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
