Story
Dixie is a 2.5-year-old coonhound mix who came to us from a Kentucky animal control. She is currently a little over 50lbs. Dixie is looking for a family that loves the howls of a hound! She is a sweet girl and seems to enjoy romping around with the dogs in the run next to her. She's very curious and excited about life. She does need work on leash manners as she tends to jump up as she gets excited to see people! Dixie has done well with meeting dogs, but is very loud, which some dogs do not enjoy.

Let us introduce you to Joe! Joe is the friendliest Treeing Walker Hound you could ever hope to meet. If he isn't cuddling with you, he is hoping for some playtime with his humans or his canine buddies. Joe has not ever met a stranger and loves every dog he sees! He is around 3 years old and is just so happy to be living life out of a crowded shelter that you can see it in his eyes. Give this sweet guy a chance and he will be forever loyal to you.  If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $250 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! Willa and Watson (siblings) came from the Brookhaven pound. We saw them on Face Book. The Brookhaven pound was going to put these puppies down because they were so shy. They couldn’t find a rescue group to take them. We decided to help them. They are super sweet, but they are very shy. Walter is not as shy as Willa. They feel very comfortable in their environment, but when taken to the vet, they do get nervous. They do respond to love, but they need somebody that will spend time with them. Because we are so overcrowded, they have never had an opportunity to live in the house. They were heavily bonded at the foster’s house, and they loved to play together. The foster did not spend any time with them, but the children played with them some in the fenced in area. They play well with other dogs, but they have never been around cats. Since they have been at Blue Ribbon Kennels, they have been in separate kennels for the past 13 months. They both need a special home with somebody that will spend a lot of time loving them, giving them a lot of attention and being patient with them. Please help Watson, and maybe even consider adopting both of them! Willa and Watson are in Mississippi. Rescue Rides is a very reliable pet transport and will transport Watson to his new home. This is included in the adoption fee.
