Story
Meet Bella - A Sweet and Spirited Hound Mix Ready for Her Forever Home Bella is a 5-year-old spayed female hound mix with a heart full of love and a laid-back, yet spirited personality. She's been through an obedience training program and knows the basics, like sit and stay, but her true hound nature shines through when she's out on a walk, where she's fantastic on a leash and ready to follow her nose wherever it leads. Bella is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines, making her fully prepared to join her new family. While she enjoys her down time, she also has the typical hound energy and curiosity, making her a great companion for those who enjoy outdoor adventures. She gets along well with both dogs and kids, and her gentle, affectionate nature makes her an easy fit into a variety of homes. Whether it's sniffing around on a walk or curling up for a nap, Bella is always ready to bring her loving presence to your life. If you're looking for a hound mix with plenty of love to give, who's ready to settle into a home where she'll be cherished, Bella could be the perfect match for you! Story
6 Ft. FENCE REQUIRED Adoption Donation  $499    Located in RI Transportation costs to Northeast included. Approximately 2 years old as of 8/8/24 Weighs 24 pounds   Introducing Lexie! This hound mix is a wonderful bundle of fun energy! If you are looking for a dog to sit down with on the couch after work and relax this is NOT the dog for you! If you are looking for a hiking, running, walking partner Lexie wants to have you join her in investigating the world. Despite a lousy start in life, Lexie is an extremely loving and trusting girl. Lexie would love to have another young and/or active pup to enjoy life with. She is currently in a foster home with a few younger dogs and she wears them all out! No cats please. She is not a fan. She's actually afraid of them Lexie loves kids, but due to her great enthusiasm for them one would worry about small toddlers getting knocked over in her excitement. Lexie would be fantastic with kids over the age of six. Lexie is crate trained and once she goes in doesn’t make a peep. Potty training as long as she is on a consistent schedule is fantastic, but she does need a routine. She has conducted all of her business in the exact same spot in the yard each and every time she goes. Can we get a hallelujah?! She walks wonderfully on a leash. While a fenced in yard is not necessary required it certainly wouldn’t hurt. But due to her high prey drive when she is not fenced in, she must always be on a leash at all times. She would take off after a squirrel or bunny and I’m sure run after it for hours. Lexies loves playing and romping around with toys or socks, so we make sure she has lots of her own things to enjoy and try to keep what we don’t want her to have put away. Lexie is EXTREMELY smart and just as energetic. She can easily jump a 4 ft. fence, so a 6 ft. fence is required. We think she would not only benefit from training but will absolutely excel at it. Whether a family, couple or single person adopts this wonderful silly girl, one thing is for sure, that they will be extremely lucky!    If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  sarahscleansweep@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. Millie is a family friendly dog and gets along with other dogs, cats, and children/toddlers. She is high energy and needs plenty or walks or large yard to run in. We have been unable to give her the attention she needs since my daughter was born and hope there is another family willing to adopt her instead of taking her to a shelter.
