Story
Meet Cinnamon! Cinnamon is a "let's live in the country" gal looking for a quiet, adult home who has experience with shy and guarding dogs. She is not a social dog but will bond slowly to one or two household members. Cinnamon will work for food and eventually "comes around" to new people, but she is much happier with few visitors. A resident dog is tantamount to her happiness and to ease her shyness.

She would love to have a person of her own. She likes people and gets on with dogs and even cats. Lilly is not much into playing but would rather spend  time with her person and on a soft place to land. She likes to be inside and has worked hard on house training but still needs to be watched carefully. Lilly would be totally devoted to someone who would shower her with love. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2024, 3:46 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Six-year-old Casper recently had back surgery and is looking for a new home. Casper was adopted in September 2024, but a few months after his adoption, he suffered a disc injury and underwent surgery. He is able to walk now, but is still weak in the hind quarters. He still needs physical therapy treatments and is still regaining control of his potty training. Unfortunately, Casper's adopter's own health makes him unable to keep up with Casper's rehabilitation. For that reason, he has made the difficult decision that Casper needs a new home. This is what Casper's owner has to say about him.   'Casper is a beautiful 51 lb., male tri-color Basset with as sweet personality as one could hope for.  He’s a joy!  But, he’s totally a Basset - recalcitrant and lazy, and as result of his injuries, is now in the process of regaining control of his potty training habits. — ie., he has accidents.  That will hopefully fix itself as his hindquarter injuries continue to heal.   'He’s recovering nicely from his IVDD surgery in October at UC Davis. He has total feeling in his rear legs but is relearning how to use them in coordination. He walks, but will not win any points on the carpet at Westminister.  'After the surgery, he went thru 5 PT sessions including acupuncture at UC Davis.  He doesn’t seem to have any pain and is not on any meds.     'We had a Vet perform PT/acupuncture and evaluate him recently and she concurs with the above and will issue a report soon with further home therapy suggestions.' Full documentation on all of Casper's medical treatment is available.  More about Casper: Casper likes to cuddle and be with his people. He is housebroken and can use the doggie door.  He is generally quiet inside the house. He doesn't have food guarding issues, but he will steal another dog's food, so he shouldn't be in a home that allows grazing (free feeding) or be fed along with a dog that eats slowly.  He doesn't seem interested in toys, but sometimes shows interest in playing with other dogs.  However, at this point, active rough play should be discouraged. He should not be in a home with cats.  Casper tolerates tooth brushing (finger brush), combing, ear cleaning, baths, and nail trims.  He would do well as an only dog, but would be good in a home with dogs that have a calm, patient temperament and that don't stimulate Casper to overdo.   If you have a home with no stairs, the ability to help Casper recover from his back surgery, and wish to give him the forever home he deserves, please submit an Adoption Applicaton. He's a wonderful dog and is well loved. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 29, 2025, 2:11 pm
