Story
These pups were recently released from a breeding/show kennel. They are up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and ready for fantastic homes. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. You are welcome to fill out our quick 10 question adoption survey to facilitate a quicker process. This will also start the meeting process for those animals in foster care: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog

Story
Approx. DOB: 7/23/2016                Approx. Weight: 12 Lbs Adoption Fee: $250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Patsy is a retired breeder Momma. Hi! I’m Patsy. If you’re looking for the perfect little lady, look no further! I have the prettiest curls, the happiest smile, and the biggest tail wag around. I absolutely love head scratches and belly rubs, and I love a good cuddle. I’m not a total couch potato, though, and I love walks or zoomies in the backyard! I also really love all of the dogs at my foster mom’s house, so if you have another dog, I’d sure love to meet them as well. I am a good girl for baths, and I always go potty outside, because I love getting treats! My foster mom says I’m “practically perfect.” I can’t wait to meet you! I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.   Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Approx. DOB: 5/8/17                Approx. Weight: 12 Lbs Adoption Fee: $250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Hi my name is Josephine and I'm looking for my forever family! I'm a 7 year old Bichon and was surrendered by a breeder. My surgery to get spayed and my dental went great, I didn't loose any teeth! I'm learning to do all the normal things dogs do. My foster parents are working with me on potty training, taking me out to potty every 3 to 4 hours. I'm just now starting to take treats from them and wag my tail when they talk to me. Story
Approx. DOB: 8/21/17                Approx. Weight: 11 Lbs Adoption Fee: $250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Katherine (although we have been calling her Sweet Pea) is an incredibly sweet Bichon Frise. She loves to hang around her humans (adults and children). At first she will be nervous around other dogs, especially big ones, but we’re confident she will quickly learn to be comfortable with them. She has definitely grown to love the big dog in her house (Eddie) and now even cuddles with him/walks on top of him to get to other parts of the couch. She was spayed on October 2nd, 2024, and on the same day had a lot of her teeth taken out. But, for some reason she has been preferring to eat her foster brother’s large breed hard food instead of her soft canned food (although she still eats some soft food too.) Potty training has been going slowly. She gets taken out every few hours and knows to pee on the grass, but she also likes to go on hardwood floors. So she is close to being potty trained but still needs reinforcement. She loves to sunbathe and explore the outdoors. She is now learning to handle the leash and is progressing quickly. She likes to stop and sniff a lot but handles gentle redirection well. Overall she is a very very (very) sweet girl. She still carries trauma from her past, but once she gets comfortable, she really comes out of her shell. She loves to be on the bed or couch and hang out with her humans. We also think it would best for her if there was at least one other dog in the house, she might be weary of them at first like she was with Eddie, but we think she is significantly happier with another dog to keep her company. We think she will thrive in any household that gives her a lot of attention, especially cuddles. She truly has been the sweetest pea and we hope she finds a home as great as she is I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.
