I'm Jockey, a sweet and small Mini Poodle weighing in at just 5 pounds. I'm 4 years old and ready to find my forever home. When I first arrived, I was pretty scared, but I've been working hard to overcome my fears and now my true personality is starting to shine through. I've really made a lot of progress and am very comfortable in my foster home. I used to hide when someone tried to pick me up, but now that I have gotten to know my foster mom, I lay down calmly  ready for some love. I enjoy spending time in the yard, especially when the neighbors walk by with their dogs. I love sniffing and checking out all the pups and people from the safety of my fence. To help me live my best life, I do need a canine companion in my new home. I have a few adorable quirks that will make you smile. I do a little dance when it's mealtime, and if you're not paying attention to me during treat time, I'll pat your leg to make sure you see me. I'm quite the foodie and love treats and chew bones. Just a heads-up, I prefer to keep my chewies to myself! I am a foodie at heart - foster mom says I can be bribed with a treat anytime, anyplace - hee hee! Toys are also my favorite - I have become a little toy hoarder and my people find my little stashes all over the house. I'm just saving them to play with later! I also love playing with the other dogs in my foster home - we LOVE playing zoomies and take turns chasing each other.  I'm still working on overcoming some fears, like loud noises, which can be a bit scary for me. But with patience and kindness, I'm getting better every day. I'm almost potty trained as long as I'm on a good schedule, and I'm also crate trained. We're working on leash training, but I do get alarmed so a fenced yard is required. I can get a bit vocal when you leave the house, but that's just because I love being around my people. It would be best if I didn't have shared walls.  If you're looking for a fantastic companion who will dance into your heart, look no further! She’s kind and gentle, open to new adventures and ready to hang out with new friends and family.  Mazie is great on a leash. She is able to walk a mile or more; a couple times a day; even seems a little reluctant to enter the house again; loving being in the outdoors. She’s not distracted by other dogs and seems not to have much interest in them. She was in a house with cats today and had no reaction to them. She’s a good eater; sleeps through the night; knows to do her bathroom duties outside and rides perfectly in the car.  She's one of the quietest dogs I’ve ever been around. Mazie is hard of hearing and needs to look at her people for calls or direction. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all. She doesn’t ignore requests, she just doesn’t hear them. When motioned to come or eat, she’s Johnny on the Spot. As she can’t hear when she is approached, it’s best to gently touch her to let her know you’re there. She expresses no aggression whatsoever; it’s just a warm and respectful way to interact with her. Mazie had a haircut today and was described as “extremely chill”. She came out feeling perky, stepping high and seemingly with more energy and vigor. I think she really likes her new look. Like many senior dogs, she is battling a few ailments and has medical needs. Maisy has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and possible chronic kidney disease. She will need to be on a daily supplement for life for her thyroid, which will cost roughly $10 a month.
