Story
Thank you for the opportunity to rehome my mother's dog Lucas. We think he is about 13-14 years old, he is neutered and shots are coming due this month. My mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Dementia and is unable to care for her two dogs. We might have her female covered but would be willing to entertain rehoming to same family. He has had some skin issues that we believe are diet related. I have tried to meal prep for them as they are also overweight. Due to my mom currently living on her own she will continue with her old habits and over feeding them or buying food that is not the highest quality. Also when there is an ear infection or any other issues, she has difficulty giving them the required medication. Lucas is also not good with the doggy door, I don't believe my mom really trained him to use it. So, unfortunately she won't let him out regularly and he goes inside the home. She has had him for for at least 12 years. He is good with cats and other dogs

Story
Alaska is an adorable, petite, Poodle mix who is ready for a brand new start in life. She truly deserves a “do over” as things weren’t easy for her but she never wavered in her love for people through it all. She is approximately 3-4 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. Alaska is very quiet but she’s a fairly confident gal in her own way. She doesn’t seem to know what toys are but I’m sure she could learn. She has never met a person she doesn’t like either! She’s good with most other dogs but selective with a few. She’s learning sit and down and she is definitely smart! She’s hesitant on the leash but learning. Alaska does require eye drops (tacrolimus) for dry eyes, on a daily basis. This will require a prescription from your veterinarian. We give you a several week supply at the time of adoption. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well housetrained Alaska is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Alaska is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Alaska’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We review each application carefully. Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.

Story
Meet Percy, your future best friend in a tiny, fluffy package 🐾 This Toy Poodle boy is expected to be around 10 lbs full grown, making him the perfect size for cuddles, adventures, and everything in between. Percy is truly a love bug—he adores people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is always ready to make a new friend. Percy is also quite the character when it comes to cats—he thinks they’re fantastic playmates! That is, until he meets a cat who doesn’t quite share his enthusiasm 😄 He’s learning that not everyone wants to join in on the fun, but his playful spirit is all part of his charm. He’s well on his way with potty training and is already learning to use a bell system to let you know when he needs to go out—such a smart little guy! To help him continue succeeding, Percy will need a home with a secure yard where he can safely practice and build consistency. Percy would thrive in a home with another playful pup his size or even a gentle larger dog who can match his friendly energy. At this time, we are not considering apartment homes, as Percy is still finishing his vaccination schedule and should not be exposed to high-traffic public areas just yet. If you have a yard, a playful companion, and lots of love to give, Percy could be the perfect addition to your family 💙 Apply to adopt Percy at azdawgz.org 🐶

Story
PEYTON — Small Dog, Big Personality Looking for a tiny dog with absolutely zero “tiny dog energy”? Meet Peyton. At just 4 months old, this toy poodle is already running a full security operation. Leaves? Suspicious. Shadows? Questionable. Random noises? Absolutely not on his watch. Peyton is on high alert at all times and takes his job very seriously… despite being about the size of a slipper. He’s not here to sit quietly in your purse or be carried around like an accessory. Peyton is a full-send, live-in-the-action kind of guy. He wrestles hard, plays harder, and comes with a bold personality that far exceeds his tiny frame. He’s confident, curious, and just the right amount of spicy. When he’s not busy patrolling your home or bulldozing through playtime, he’s crashing wherever his people (and animal friends) are—yes, that includes the bed. He’s social, snuggly on his terms, and thrives in a home that can match his energy and keep him engaged. Also important: this boy LOVES to eat. Meals, snacks, crumbs—he’s in. **Peyton’s ideal home:** • Active household that appreciates a big personality • Another playful dog = bonus points • Someone who understands puppies + is ready for training • Not looking for a quiet lap dog… because he’s not that If you want a tiny, fearless, slightly dramatic best friend who will keep life interesting (and your home “protected” from airborne threats), Peyton is your guy. Apply at azdawgz.org
