Story
Hello! My name is Murphy, and I am 9 months old. I weigh a whopping 9 pounds. My fur is super soft. We are not sure what my breed is. Shelter listed me as a mixed breed but when I went to the doggie vet for a wellness check (passed with flying colors!) they think I am mixed with a Toy Fox and Norwegian Lundehund. That's a lot of words for a small dog but one thing is for sure - they all think I am SUPER CUTE!! My owner bought me from somewhere online (maybe a Breeder?) and brought me home, but she should have checked with her landlord first. Sadly, Landlord heard my barking and said I had to go. Dogs weren't allowed in her apartment, so she took me to the shelter. Treasured Animal Rescue was there that day looking for cats and they asked me if I could tag along. So that's how I got my ticket out of the shelter. In the shelter I was so scared so that's why they asked for a rescue person to take me home. They know the tricks to help little guys like me to not be so scared. It took me about 45 minutes in my foster home to let all the scariness of the shelter go bye bye! The shelters note from that owner said I was not potty trained. But it took my foster Mom 4 days to teach me the potty business and I mastered it. During the day I don't tell her I have to go outside but we go out a lot and I do my business out there. When I do I get lots of praise and I am so happy when my foster Mom praises me. My little tail wags so fast! It's like a windshield wiper. I even go outside in snow and rain. Weird for little dogs, huh? At nighttime, when the house is quiet I will bark at you to say "I got to go". When snow came, I got to wear a sweater, but I didn't like it, so I took it off. That's ok because when I'm outside I run around a lot. I have a friend here and she & I play a lot. She's about 5 times my size and I don't mind how big she is. Sometimes when she's laying down, I hop on her back. In the short time I've been in my foster home I've learned the rules of the road from her so maybe when I get my new home, I have another friend that I can learn the same way. Speaking of my forever home this is where you need to learn about my barking. No apartments! I might bark when I am left alone. In my foster home someone is always home, or I have kitty or doggie friends who are here. My foster Mom can tell you what she has done to help my barking. She's timed me on how long I bark, and I've gotten better. It's gotten so much better. First night, I cried all night. My foster Grandma slept on the couch with me. Second night, it got better being on my own and now? I can sleep through the night and no barking. But let's just say no apartments or shared walls. We don't want anyone to get upset with my barks. I would do better with a secured fence because I love to run around in the yard. But little dogs like me shouldn't be going outside by their selves anyways. I can be picked up really easy by some birds or coyotes. Remember, I'm only 9#s. I like the cats in the foster home too. Sometimes I chase them, but we are all the same size. There's one here that I like to cuddle with on the couch. I am past my puppy stage in the chewing and as we mentioned my potty training was corrected right away. But as a young boy I do like my toys and my favorite is a ball. I like to chase a ball and even though I am tiny I can carry a tennis ball. Maybe one day I can catch it. When the other dogs are taking a break from playing & I still want to play I'll play ball by myself. I throw the ball up in the air and try to catch it. Maybe I can try out for the Chicago Cubs. I'm a smart boy as I learned so much in the time I've been in my foster home. Now, I know I go in my crate for my meals and when it's bedtime I go in my crate I get a special treat or a toy. I am a good boy all night until I wake up my foster Mom in the morning to tell her I got to go potty. I hope one day I have a family. Maybe someone who works from home, so I am not left alone. Remember no apartments or even shared walls (condos). When my foster Mom is on her computer I like to lay by her feet. I hope I can have another furry friend. Can't wait to meet you!
