Story
Rizzo is a 6 month old rat terrier/chihuahua mix, approx 6 months old weighing 12 lbs. She is a tall beauty with fun puppy energy. Her foster mom is hoping she can be adopted along with her mother since they are very bonded. Cookie is about 6-7 years old, still has a long life to lead since small dogs live a long time and she is in great health and just had her dental cleaning and all her vaccines. Rizzo loves playing with other dogs. Rizzo and Cookie were living with many dog relatives when she was surrendered to us. Because of that, she is a little shy, but friendly. She gets confidence from her other dog friends, so finding a forever home with another dog is very important! Plus they play and keep each other company so a twosome would make a lot of sense. Rizzo is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Dog door trained Does well with other small dogs Older kids would be best Unsure about Cats, but I think she would be ok! If you would like to learn more about Rizzo and schedule a meet and greet, please reach out to Paula @ spwheels1@gmail.com. Adoption fee for the two dogs to cover vet expenses is $500 Link to view Cookie's profile: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/43167168-gilbert-arizona-rat-terrier-mix

Story
Meet Cookie! She is the matriarch of the bonded pair we have. We would love to see Cookie get adopted with Rizzo. Cookie is 6 -7 years old and her daughter is younger. (Profile link below) Cookie has been a Mama dog most of her life..She lived with many other dogs and although she was loved and fed, she was not given the chance to be a playful carefree dog until now. ? She loves playing with her daughter Rizzo, they are a very cute pair! It would be great if they could be adopted together. Cookie loves to run and play in the grass with Rizzo but will quickly find herself a nice quiet spot on her soft blanket or the couch. Cookie is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She recently had a dental cleaning and is in great health! Cookie is good with most other dogs Not sure about cats Best with children that are a little older, 6 and up just because busy children and their fast moves will most likely scare her. If you would like to learn more about Cookie and schedule a meet and greet, please reach out to Paula @ spwheels1@gmail.com. Adoption fee to cover both dogs vet bills: $500 Rizzo link: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/42070037-gilbert-arizona-chihuahua-mix

Story
Let’s welcome Dug to BTBPR!    This approximately 9 year old Chiweenie was saved from the life of living outside his whole life.    Here are some words from his foster:   Dug will be looking for a home to call his own soon!!  Dug is an absolute sweetheart and would love a family that is home most of the time. He is blind in his left eye and visual impairment in his right eye from cataracts, but doesn’t let that slow him down in the least. He loves to go outside and explore the backyard and can jump up and down from the couch on his own.  He is a huge fan of pup cups and has done great on car rides sitting on a blanket and wearing a seatbelt attached to his collar. He’s a dream on the leash and listens well when I call him to follow me.    We are working on crate training so that he is safe when I have to leave the house. He struggles with being in the crate if nobody is around and will bark and cry, but if someone is near he’s usually fine.    We use belly bands if he wants to wander around the house as he does sometimes mark. This behavior has improved but we occasionally still have to tell him no and redirect him outside. He also has some incontinence at night; however, I do let him sleep on my bed on top of washable incontinence mattress protector and a blanket. He doesn’t move position often at night and has so far only had accidents on the potty pad. He would also probably be ok sleeping in a crate next to the bed as long as he knows you are there but we haven’t tried that out yet because he’s so sweet and loves to snuggle at night.    He spends the majority of the day sitting next to me (and my other small dog) on the couch and I think he would do fine in a house with other animals as he is so chill and doesn’t initiate contact with my dogs. He is not a big fan of my new dog but she is young and super high energy, and he tolerates her sleeping next to him on the couch when she is calm.  He will growl at her if she gets too close to him while he is eating or trying to sleep but he has never tried to bite or nip. Dug also loves playing with small squeaker toys and enjoys butt scratches, belly rubs and snuggles. He has loved everyone he’s met so far and cuddled up to my husband the first time they met.    Dug would prefer a family that is home the majority of the time and is a sweet older gentleman that would make a great addition for anyone looking for a couch potato love bug that doesn’t need constant attention and is content to sit or lie next to you all day and night!!   Please fill out an application on our website so we can arrange a meet and greet followed by a home check. His adoption fee is $150 and will be applied to his medical bills. Dug is neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped. We are waiting for the results of his senior blood panel that was done at San Tan Animal Hospital on 1-7-25. January 8, 2025, 12:53 am
