Story
Meet Duke, a 7 month old Mastiff mix with a giant heart. His gentle nature and cuddly demeanor make him a great companion and a joy to be around. He does take some time to warm up to visitors as he is very loyal to his people, but once he learns they are friends he is happy to greet them. His foster parents have described him as a giant lap dog, he just loves love. He has several naps during the day and his favourite spot at his foster home is in front of the window, watching the birds and basking in the sun. Duke has a keen love for treats, which makes training him an absolute joy; he knows many commands such as "sit", "shake a paw", "come outside", "where are your toys" and "lay down". He is good on a leash and does not pull. He does get the "zoomies" from time to time so he would benefit from a fenced in backyard. He is doing very well with his potty training too, 95% trained. He is great at communicating when he has to go. He would do best in a home with mature children as he is unaware of his size and still has playful puppy energy. A home with few stairs would be best as he is still learning how to go up and down them. If you would like to adopt Duke, please contact the Orillia center to discuss his needs. He is staying with a lovely foster family so if you are interested in a meet with him it will have to be by appointment.
