Story
Mr. Chow Meow, a blue-eyed, chocolate point Siamese who is 6-years-old, is a special kind of fellow who was living a difficult life as an outdoor cat fending for himself. He was brought in by a caring person who wanted to help him have a better life. Mr. Chow Meow has a bit of a rough exterior but he is nothing but mush on the inside. He is shy, but does enjoy being petted and loved on. What makes Mr. Chow Meow so special? His cartoonish looks are very endearing. We believe that he has impaired vision, but that does not stop him from getting around just fine.
Mr. Chow Meow, has tested positive for FIV, but that does not mean he can't live a normal and healthy life. This should not be a game changer for anyone interested in adopting.
FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) is a widely misunderstood condition. Many people think that it's easily spread, makes cats very sick, and that they have a lower life expectancy, so they are often overlooked for adoption. This is far from the truth! When a cat tests positive for FIV, it means they either carry the virus or were vaccinated against it at some point. FIV is not spread through casual contact such as shared food/water/litter, mutual grooming, or playing. It is most commonly spread through deep, vicious bite wounds typically inflicted by intact toms fighting on the streets over food, females, or territory. If a cat has been spayed or neutered, they are unlikely to fight in this manner, and if the population is stable (no serious fighting), FIV+ cats can live with non-infected cats.
If you would like to give his sweet boy the life he has only dreamed of please fill out an adoption application. He is current on vaccinations, tested negative for FeLV, is neutered and is microchipped.
Our adoption fee for one altered adult cat (1 year to 7 years old) is $85 which helps cover expenses (vaccinations, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets United Animal Friends rescues. There is a discounted adoption fee for a second cat that is adopted at the same time.
If you have any questions or to adopt a cat from United Animal Friends (UAF) an application must be filled out. Filling out this form does not obligate you to adopt, but gives us the information needed to make sure the pet is suited to your home.
